All our players in those days used to have meek and submissive personalities. Ganguly came along and some ****y players like Zaheer, Sehwag, Sreesanth and Yuvraj started getting in. It's good to have a few arrogant, annoying wankers like Kohli and Jaddu in the team.Srinath's finest moment was when he hit Ponting in the face with a bouncer, went up to him to see if he as ok, and got a torrent of abuse thrown his way from Ponting for having the nerve to do so. Poor bloke. 90s Indian quicks were so mild mannered.
Pretty gross behavior from Ponting. Macho alpha bullshit. Glad he's chilled out post playing career, really likeable guy these daysSrinath's finest moment was when he hit Ponting in the face with a bouncer, went up to him to see if he as ok, and got a torrent of abuse thrown his way from Ponting for having the nerve to do so. Tbf Johnson at his very worst was impossible to hit tooJohnson at his peak was impossible to hit, only perfect duckers of ball can face him.
Or as he cried on tv Sachin BabySachin Smith
Meh. All test match cricketers are alphas. If they weren't they wouldn't have made it or wouldn't handle it psychologically. Srinath had bowled a bouncer, Ponting had misplayed it, and Ponting had that demeanour of just wanting to get on with things, to show he wasn't fazed.Pretty gross behavior from Ponting. How awful for everyone involved. I hope they all recovered from this terrible incident. There's an anecdote of him telling ABDV to piss off or something after scoring his 168*.
It wasn't de riguer (had to google that) at the time at all. It WAS gross behaviour from Ponting however way you slice it, not sure what being alpha has to do with it.Meh. I think things have changed post Phil Hughes, but this was de riguer at the time.
Wasn't even gross behaviour. Srinath pinged him. Ponting was always up for the contest. His whole psyche in the contest would have been to show Srinath it didn't faze him and then to get on top of Srinath with the bat. That's who Ponting the competitor was. Ponting didn't want Srinath to check if he was ok, same as he wouldn't check if he'd hit Srinath had he been a bowler. There's a whole history of batsmen not wanting to show bowlers that they've hurt them. So yeh, it was de riguer. It wasn't de riguer (had to google that) at the time at all. beg to differ. There's a lot of betas floating around international cricket. I'd even say there are more betas than alphas, unlike most sportsMeh. All test match cricketers are alphas.
