I don’t think this will be a win the toss win the match situation and I hope it isn’t. Both teams are quality teams for me Australia have the slight edge here given how the group stages went and given their pedigree in these elite events but England have been building to this for four years so I wouldn’t totally count them out.

The biggest concern has to be rain I heard that there is bad weather predicted in Birmingham for the next two days?

Google weather: Cloudy until about 5pm, where chance of rain peaks at about 32%. Clear again by 8pm.

BBC: Cloudy in the morning and the chances of rain starts to come in at lunchtime. Peaks at 4pm with about 28% chance, but may be thunder. Highest chance of rain is 46% around 8-9 pm.

Met office: Cloudy until about 4pm. Low chance of rain rises to a peak of 50% around 6pm. Drops to around 30% and then continues throughout night.

The eagle-eyed among you will spot that these all contradict each other, except on the point that it is cloudy in the morning.

I'm in Birmingham, and it is not cloudy this morning.

A coworker of mine was at the Wellington pub last night and met Merv Hughes and Damien Fleming there. Had the selfies to prove it.

Apparently those guys are not confident of an Aus win today. Talking about how little the tourists have won anything at Edgbaston in the 21st century.

That said this coworker of mine described Merv as 'a gent' which casts doubt on the veracity of his story.

That makes him a choker
Burgey is present all WC but can't perform when the pressure of the KO games are on. It wasn't even like he was set up by a great troll poster, or went too hard at a post that warranted it. He just massively overreacted at a couple of soft jabs in an irrelevant thread. Pressure was on him and he had a rush of blood, went too hard at the wrong moment and threw it all away. He was having a prolific WC up until this point, and then bottled it.

All his ODI-related posts don't mean a thing if he can't perform in KO games. Fills his boots in JAMODIS and meaningless group stage games, but literally goes missing when it's time to perform. He's a hack by his own standards.

I am probably underrating NZ but to me, this game most probably decides the WC winner. Both Australia and England look too strong compared to NZ to me, but then again even India did. Not sure if NZ can spring 2 surprises in a row.

Birds do it, bees do it
Even educated fleas do it
Let's not do it, let's not underestimate NZ

One upset already happened in the other semi. Expecting this to be one sided affair. Aussies to win comfortably.

Need to support England today else the final will be a blow out. Aus just has the wood over NZ for whatever reason.

I think this is the first time where I haven't felt either confident or absolute pessimism going into a huge game like this. This really is as 50:50 as it gets imo.

I just really hope it's not a win the toss win the game scenario and the weather ****s off........can't believe they scheduled the finals in July. Muppets.
