He copped some flak, but good on Ross for battling through when he obviously wasn't at his best. Gave us something to bowl to at least, in the end ... and nobody else other than Kane did much.
Yeah, I've been whining about it all innings long, but lots of credit for battling through and not throwing it away, wish he'd done similarly against Australia.

I think the frustration has been he's been batting like a God for 4 years now and suddenly looked impotent in the last 3 games against just about all kinds of bowling. Which is probably churlish given his contributions in two of the other league games as has been pointed out.

Yeah but what happens if all of today is rained off? Is the reserve day just used for one innings or an entire replay?
i think they pick up from where this innings left off and continue the game as normal. 'continuation of the game, not a restart'

Are they using a fresh pitch for this match? Not great for NZ I guess.

I’m glad we are out, Pak would have struggled against the spinners big time. Would have been an utter humiliation. Lol

If the rest of the day is rained off do NZ just come back tomorrow and have another crack at batting?
They should do that. In fact they should just have looked at the weather forecast and not even bothered starting today - especially bearing in mind how much they bleat on about being able to predict the rain down to the minute.

i figured he's of Indian descent living in Australia who chooses to support Australia

nothing wrong with that IMO. Ethnicity != Nationality.
Im a Bombay boy born and raised....I moved to Canada in 2001 and then moved back to India for a few years too since I prefer it. Nonetheless, I've always been an Aussie supporter since I was kid....grew up watching Border, Boon, Waugh, Warne etc and just loved their playing style. It was just the perfect combination of grit, intelligence and style. Could not stand the Indian teams and fans ever. Even modeled my batting after Mark Waugh. The late 80's and 90's were just a different time. I am currently rocking my Aus jersey in my Toronto office as I type this and the flack i've continued to receive from all Indians is hilarious....none of them good at sledging though.

237 runs in 46 overs?

Not sure if NZ can get to this 237 in 50 overs if full match happens...lol

Time for the biggest decision of the evening - whether to stay up or not. Sounds like the rain is heavier so thinking no.

Coming back to complete the match tomorrow will feel completely bizarre.

I hope I am wrong but according to this data India will roughly have around 20 overs when play resumes. And umpires will try to start the game as soon as possible. But if we lose another over, I assume we will have full match from where we left today?
yikes....148 to defend then?

Yeah if play is resumed today and then stopped again, tomorrow it'll be the DLS-altered game that resumes, but if it doesn't resume at all today then NZ will finish their fifty overs (rain permitting).

At times the way they've set this out seems really stupid, but having looked into it I guarantee you any alternative you could pitch would have an even stupider possible scenario attached to it. Cricket is just unavoidably stupid sometimes.
