Yeah if play is resumed today and then stopped again, tomorrow it'll be the DLS-altered game that resumes, but if it doesn't resume at all today then NZ will finish their fifty overs (rain permitting).

At times the way they've set this out seems really stupid, but having looked into it I guarantee you any alternative you could pitch would have an even stupider possible scenario attached to it. Cricket is just unavoidably stupid sometimes.
Rain won't be coming again most probably which leaves us with two possibilities, a complete DLS game today or a full game tomorrow.

Full resume tomorrow works fine from TV viewer pov. Got to watch cricket today, tomorrow again, and then an entire Aus-Eng game on Thurs. Win-win.

Drainage is typically uniformly awesome in all major English grounds. It's really apparent how true this is when you follow cricket in Ireland and see them abandoning games the night before.
Yes I fully expect to see play three hours from now on the radar I'm looking at. That's why the 39-year-old Jeets has over 40 Div 1 wickets again already this season, after all. The modern English venues and their drainage.

Or don't play in a **** country with **** weather
Can I just check btw to see if this is actually a serious opinion? Like is the option you're putting forward here to just go and play every single World Cup in the desert so it never rains, or is it just a joke/troll? I like me a bit of never rains in England in June memery myself, but I'm growing increasingly concerned it's the former with some people.

tbh DLS must be one of things I like most about limited overs cricket - I love everything about it, including how clueless people react to new targets

The latter. If you played in the subcontinent this time of the year you'd barely get a game.
