My Sky feed has just died (fecking legal too, it is; suspect it's the broadband down here in the south of France), but India's approach since Pandya went has stunk.

I mean, I know they don't need to win, but surely England are more dangerous than Pakistan? If you've got a chance of eliminating the home side at least try to.

Disappointing. I wanted India to knock England out and BD to qualify as a result.

Now England must lose to NZ, BD must beat India, and then must beat Pakistan. Tough
It's cute that you are still hopeful

pandya

Spot on. Dhoni would have played his last ODI game if the management has the good of Indian cricket in mind.

I know he got a century but that was not a great Rohit century,,,just ate up to many dot balls, yeah he pulled it as the innings progressed, but on this sort of pitch in this era you need to be able to rotate strike from pretty much ball one.
Well it wasn't a great century but it was still a good one I think. India were in an okay position and then needed someone to match Stokes in the middle order, and no one got a hold of the bowling like that (or perhaps weren't allowed to).

What actually pisses me even more is that his final tally of 42(31) would be used by his fans to claim that he actually played pretty well.

So England defeats Ind in a WC match after 27 years. The guy who did a Dhoni there (Shastri who made that painstaking half century in a single digit loss) walks to the centre now.

No I disagree. If you think you’re going to lose anyway, try to hit every ball out of the pitch and hope for the 5% miracle win due to luck.

That is a zillion times better than this sort of pathetic spineless forfeit.
Yea I think you missed the sarcasm in my post

Rohit and Kohli also should have tried to boss Rashid. Look was YJB and Roy did to Indian spinners especially first spells.

Those last 8 overs or so were utterly dire by India. England had clear plans, set their field in certain ways and then bowled accordingly, but the total lack of intent and ability to adapt was woeful.

Yep

"B - but look he averages 45@90 this year, that means he's good" . It's innings like these that are propping up his stats in recent years.

Safe to say England pulling out that performance is a huge relief.

Bairstow MotM and that's fair but I'll draw attention for a moment to Woakes. Final figures aren't flattered by being asked to bowl against his strong suit at the death but was old school beautiful with the new pill. Given he started the tournament taking some real tap that's a really encouraging thing right now.

I think I've said it before but kohli and shastri talk about #intent literally all the time in test cricket. And in odis, they put up with trash like this. I just do not get it.

Yup last few innings he's done really well with the new pill, he should have had more upfront though, we need to get into the habit of just giving him the opening 7 overs if he's going well as he doesn't come back so well so we're not utilising his overs the best. Plus leaves more overs for the others at the end and therefore more options.
