Who do you have pegged for your 4 semi finalists?

I would like to now see Smith against lesser attacks like England. Wonder if he can keep up with a 300 run chase. Root and Kohli seem to have that extra gear. They can do those 100 (90) innings.

Semi finalists could be really out there due to rain. Looks like quite a few games will be affected over the next few days at least. I think NZ AFG looks okay, ENG BAN might be a late start? AUS IND not a bad forecast. But other than that... WI SA might be in trouble. And BAN SL. AUS PAK. NZ IND. This is worrying.

Not in England's set up he doesn't. We don't need a second (and inferior) Root.
I don't see how Smith is inferior to Root. He'd offer the English valuable experience at winning world cup finals and playing clutch innings in world cup finals. Something joined of these English players have done before.

How glorious was the devastated look on Ellen’s face when he got out the other day and knew he and his team were going to choke? One of the highlights so far.

Yeah yeah yeah, when your done with your Aussie world cup record **** fest, surely even you will see that Root is just a better ODI player than Smith.

Considering Root doesn't know how to play in World Cups he seems to be doing alright so far sat on top of the run scorers list averaging 79 @ 96 compared to Smiths 45 @ 70. They both play the same role for their sides and Root just does it better. End of story.

Root and Smith are both superb players, but neither would make an ODI World XI middle order (3-6) which would obviously be Kohli, Taylor, Shakib, Buttler

Smith is sure as hell over rated in ODIs. There are some dozen batsmen going around better than him. He is not even the best ODI batsman in his own team. Warner is.

Morgan's not really a big hitter though? It's one thing if Morgan was as agressive as the rest of the England lineup but I don't think that's the case. Obviously my memory might be playing tricks on me though.

Agree Root is ahead of Smith at ODI level.

I'd take Williamson over Taylor. And Shakib could be replaced by a better batsman depending on the rest of the side.

Go look at the run charts, mate. And then the wickets column. Shakib is an incredible 2 in one deal you just can't pass on.

With Buttler at 6, I wonder who the #7 should be. Shakib can bowl a sizeable number of overs.

Yeah he should definitely be playing but he doesn't need to bat five. He should be the fifth bowler in the side IMO.

He should be the fifth bowler, yeah but I think he's best utilised in the middle order. Too good to be wasted down at 7.

My point about Shakib was more that he might be superfluous to requirements. If Holder is picked as the all rounder because the track is not spin friendly then you might as well pick a specialist batsman instead. Having said that you'd probably pick Shakib at 7 and your keeper at 8 anyway if you did that.

It's hard to know what to do with Shakib's batting in a side where he wouldn't be expected to hold the entire top six together. His batting record in the IPL for example is very ordinary.
