Mitch Marsh didn't play most of that WC tbf. It was the Maxwell/old Watson combo I was thinking about.

But no one could do a thing about Starc/Haze/MJ in that tournament anyway so it hardly mattered.
mixed up my eras a bit there, but watson even towards the end i remember being not horrific.

in the end it was the back up that landed the killing blow in the final. elliott and taylor had that innings resurrected and the platform at 30 meme set before nzs icing players couldn't deal with forkers.

but yeah i won't deny the bowling attacks of the two finalists hid the softer underbelly of their bowling attacks all tournament. the game has escalated since 2015 though. in 2015 you could set a platform and go, now england and india just go go go.

#6 flatters Stoinis anyway. Carey looks much more solid. He can be a decent foil for TPC here.
I really don't get the point of Stoinis. He's been massively over-rated based on one crazy innings. Frankly the only reason why he's still in the side is Marsh's lack of form.

Smith gifting Carey with sighters against Braithwaite and Carey is making him look like Marshall.

You could never really "go" against 2015 aus though, because starc's round the wicket outswinging yorkers were just flat out unhittable

Stoinis terrible. Glad he's out.

Love Harsha Bhogle saying saying how we associate the WI with vibrancy and life, even as his own presence and commentary literally saps the will to live from anyone listening to him.

If we want a pace bowling allrounder who do we pick though? Marsh is crap, Stoinis is crap, Faulkner turned crap a long time a go now.

Looking at his record, he had a pretty awesome first 15-20 innings where he averaged around 60. plenty of decent scores to go with the one massive ton. It's been dire straits since though

Marsh should never have been dropped from the ODI side. Nor should Wade. Hazlewood should be there. No reason why we play lesser players except for Langer's theories.

Marsh really isn't that bad at ODI's. Just badly out of nick which is why Stoinis is there.

Depending on how the World Cup goes though I'd turn back to him. The pool is very shallow though.

Hazlewood being pigeoned holed as a Test specialist is puzzling to me. He averages 25 at an economy rate of about 4.5, those are excellent figures.

I reckon Wade would be very handy right now. Carey is just using up time.

well yeah i don't think it's any coincidence their one close game was the one where their batting got carved through and the oppo came hard with the bat to throw the non-starc bowlers off their lengths (cummins and mj in particluar).

MMarsh never really 'out of form' in OD cricket, but he missed a lot of series due to resting and injury and then his test form saw him shown the door from the OD team (which is the inverse of what usually happens, Smith, Warner and Hazlewood are all examples of players who have consolidated a spot in the OD team thanks to their great test performances)

Langer's excuse is that he hasn't played ODI cricket for a while with the injuries and whatnot. How that justifies Kane Richardson (who I don't think is bad, but he's two classes below) over him I don't know. Another one of his stupid theories.

How many ODIs has marsh even played recently though. He's been out of the side for ages and hadn't played much OD cricket at all.

Every Australian replacement in this 2019 side is a downgrade on their 2015 counterpart, except Cummins.
