Seriously though, give me 400 v 400 over this everytime. I hate the meme that big scores are somehow boring and teams collapsing for 110 is peak cricket or something

Yeah, one side getting shot out just makes for terrible cricket. ODI cricket needs decent scores.

Nobody said that.

Cricket should be a gladiatorial battle between bat and ball. When the balance swings too far in either direction the game is poorer for it.

It's fun if it happens once in a while....or the other side has the bowling to defend a low total. This just sucks.

The main problem though is that a world where 400 is chasable just isn't great bat and ball balance. And makes the game seems too much like a prolonged T20 rather than its own thing.

**** cricket. Like watching under 12s facing the senior fast bowlers in the nets. It's just awkward.

And anyway, this is a class difference between the sides. Minnows vs top sides has always largely been poor quality matches.

The thing is more often than not when the team batting first gets under 220 the chasing side canters home. Matches like the '99 WC SF are great sure, but extremely rare. I get way more excited on average if a chasing team has a big total to reel in

In Tests, definitely. The batsman should be favoured a bit in LO cricket though.

Watching that first Starc over was almost like watching the first over if the 2015 final.
