Bevan took 10 wickets and scored an unbeaten 82 in a test against the WI, if he had to got to 100 would this have been the only example of this happening in a test? Now that would have been cool.

India played 6 tests at home against a Packer affected Australian bowling lineup of Hogg,Hurst,Higgs,Dymock,Yardley. They played another 6 at home against Pakistan having Imran(who was surely world class but not yet the bowler he went on to become) and some others. India did have to face Lillee in 1980-81 though.
In other words they faced pretty decent if not outstanding attacks. Hardly like bashing up Bangladesh overseas or anything. And lo and behold, other things (such as pitches) can affect averages in a single series as well.

WI and Aus batting during this period had to face superior lineups, more so when they faced each other.
And that doesn't apply at other times?

I'm not sure what you're getting at here except that you're trying to twist things into saying Botham feasted on weak batting with nothing to prove it.

Ian Botham, Imran Khan and Shakib Al Hasan are the only players to score a century and take 10 wkts in a Test. Alan Davidson only other player to take 10 wkts and score 100+ runs in a Test.

I believe Keith Miller is the only cricketer to have crash landed his Mosquito fighter bomber into a field, then walk away from the wreckage and joined in a school boy game of cricket, who then went on to be a test match opening bowler and all rounder

Okay, what's the most wickets someone has gotten while also peeling off a double ton in match?

Might I add, Garner, Roberts, Holding and Marshall played a whopping six tests together. Not like there were too many opportunities to score against that particular attack.

If we're talking real allrounders who produced with both disciplines in the same match, here is how many time 50's and 5 wkts in an innings were scored.

Botham - 7
Hadlee - 6
Kapil Dev - 4
Imran - 2
Sobers - 2

Cairns did this 5 times and Shakib 7.

Interestingly, Paul Reiffel did this twice and Brett Lee 3 times. Sobers possibly overrated as an AR?

Ravichandran Ashwin - Only cricketer in history with 7 10 wicket halls and 4 hundreds. I think this should settle the debate about whether Ashwin is a true allrounder.
Ashwin against WI is Sobers reincarnated. Of course, this achievement is cheapened somewhat by Voges turning into Bradman on steroids against the same opposition..

And it turns out Mustaq Mohammad once took a 5 fer and scored a double ton in the same match. Now that's an all rounder

George Giffen the only bloke to score 400 runs and take 30 wickets in a series

Faulkner the only bloke to score 500 runs and take 25 wickets in a series

Shane Warne a solitary run away from being the only bloke to take 40 wickets and 250 runs in a series

Any one know what the most runs scored in the same match when taking a seven for is? Seven wickets in an innings being sort of equivalent to a double century except significantly harder, especially these days (there have been only 210 against 371 double tons).

The biggest single innings is Botham with 114, but I wonder if there are any bigger match totals.

Albert Trott nearly beat him.

72*, 38* and 8-43 all in one match.

Not too shabby
