Ajax vs Spurs sounds like a tasty tie. I realise it probably would've made for a good tie if it was City vs Ajax, but City would've had a greater chance of winning in dominating fashion than Spurs imo.

There's an inconsistency in the offside law.

Had that been a City player passing it forward to Agüero and it deflected off a Spurs player it would have been offside regardless of the deflection.

So why is it not onside when a Spurs backpass deflects off a City player?

I'm not sure what the exact wording of the law is but that just doesn't feel like that should be given offside.

Twitter points out Spurs stopped United winning the quadruple in 1999. On further inspection, that's correct as the knocked United out of the League Cup. Weird how these things happen.

That’s just one of the absolute best games ever. Really looking forward to Spurs vs Ajax now.

Had that been the case then Aguero was still offside when the initial pass went through though? It's not as if he stepped off between the ball being passed by Eriksson and it hitting the City player?

Just a post-script, but I admired the Porto fans' reaction to the Salah goal. They got up and started singing one of their songs. Very dignified and the fans deserved their goal.

Can't believe I defended VAR on twitter in the past just for it to allow United and Spurs to progress in the CL.

Woke up at 2am and thought about staying up to watch the City/Spurs match. Decided I cbf, went back to sleep.

Woke up again at 6am, checked the result. Regret.

Spent the last 4 hours since waking up trying to make peace with the thought of Sp*rs winning the Champions League.

I can't though, the thought of it is too distressing.

At least it will dilute their focus on the Prem. Hopefully this might translate into Arsenal finishing above them.
