How about a WC final chokers XI?

Greenidge to open the batting. 13(off 60 balls lol) , 9 and 1 in his three WC finals. Terrible

Sachin his opening partner ofc

Andy Roberts to open the bowling. 3 wickets total across 3 WC finals, all taken in the one they lost as well.

I'm sure there's more contenders

Like an incrementally better Intel processer, AB DeVilliers > Adam Bacher > Allan Border. The middle one is a moderate upgrade over the earliest. The recent one, a huge upgrade over the other two.
One of those three had a match- winning performance in a world cup. The other two have never played in a world cup final.

One of those three turned a world minnow into a world champion side. The other two did not.

One of those three was universally regarded as the best batsman in the world against the mighty West Indies. The other two were not.

One of those three has an international test trophy, the most prestigious award in cricket and two grounds in two different states named after him. The other two do not.

Where on earth did "Mr Lesser" come from? Is that meant to be about Ponting?
You have to forgive these fellas. They're trying hard. Very hard. A bit too hard tbh. It's a struggle for those so earnest to feign humour. In fact, they can't do it.

Faulkner, as pointed out by TJB, was the MOTM for the 2015 CWC final. Probably deserves that spot.

I'd pick Mohinder Amarnath over Kapil for 1983 too. Awesome team otherwise.
I deliberately vetoed both players due to them not really being greats otherwise.

So you're picking your World Cup Final XI not based on who was the best player in each final but based on who the best XI players you could pick if you had to pick one who happened to be playing in each final?

Since everything except finals are meaningless, all test cricket (except series in which the #1 team plays the #2 team and the #1 spot is at stake) should also be ignored.

Tendulkar fan triggered.

Weird observation this. This whole thread has been about Aussie posters cherry picking stats/games to show Aussie players to be better than non-Aussie rival players. It's them who have been triggered all along.

McCullum to captain surely

I've seen just as much of the opposite (anti-Aussie posters cherry picking stats/games to show non-Aussie players to be better than Aussie rival players).

Definitely a bit of both going on though

Holder won a world cup?
Oh I see, Vanburn Holder. Not Jason Holder.

He was good enough to play for the Windies when they were a top side so he must have had something special about him. Had a decent ODI average too.

I wrote my criteria - had to be a player who performed in the winning side in the final as well as being a good player. Faulkner was good (for a time) but Starc has been better for longer and didn't exactly underperform in either the final or the series.

I haven't really been following the thread until I rejoined and then dominated it today, so obviously this is not directed at me. Who are you referring to?

Sunliz and myself only gave Burgey the stats for the criteria he cherry picked(ODI finals). Of course that did not help his anti Tendulkar agenda and in fact unfavorably highlighted his favorite player.
Then he went about cherry picking World Cup finals stats. Cherry picking was one way all the way through.

You obviously weren't reading Pap Finn's posts.

Aussie posters on here still act as if they're arguing with Indian cricket fans on YouTube/FaceBook/Cricinfo comment sections.

Give it up, guys, no one's insecure about Sachin anymore. He is, and always will be special to us, but we've found another guy good enough to assume the mantle straight after he retired.
