*Official* Sri Lanka Tour of Australia 2019

Joey Burns was drafted into the Australian team for the final Test in South Africa post-Sandpaper

He arrived just two days before the game, and top scored in the 2nd innings

Then was inexplicably not picked - not just for the next Test - for the wider touring squad in the UAE where guys like SMarsh and Marnus were preferred

Burns now has four Test centuries

Justice at last

I found it strange that when Warner, Bancroft and Smith were banned, we didn't pick their in- form replacements. The knee jerk reaction picks of Renshaw and Burns were correct. But then the selectors had a bit of time to think about it and messed things up.

Good to see Burns in the runs.

Probably a bit, although with the inexperience of SL's bowling attack I think they've dropped off in quality a fair bit shortly after the start of both sessions, and their pace bowling is too middling and giving the Aussies too much time to hit boundaries.

Lol Marvan doesn't know anything about Chamika (I don't think anyone does) and talks about not giving away easy runs, then he bowls a gentle half volley and gets driven down the ground. What happened to the art of bowling cutters and changing your pace with the old ball?

What would a pace bowler who peddles the SL domestic circuit know about bowling a second spell? let alone with a genuinely old ball

Looked like Head was trying to give slips catching practice there.

True that. I've tended to think that the focus on reverse swing has diminished the ability in the older arts, but the SL pacers don't really have a chance at all.

Perera needs to bowl a lot more balls under 80 km/h imo. His action prevents him from overspilling the ball so he's got no bite, so he needs to vary his pace more.

Pretty telling about the way Head plays that he had 107 dots from 150 odd deliveries to get to a ton. Very much a boundary or nothing kinda guy. Good on him though, definitely the batsmen I'd like to see do well the most in this current lineup.

How much must Harris, Khawaja and Labaschagne be hating themselves now? Absolutely the most dumb thing to do getting out early against this attack.

full credit to head for his ton and he’s earned it but i still don’t think he’s the answer

nobody who gets caught on the rope at third man twice in the same match has the temperament for tests and i’m essentially not counting runs made by any one in this series bc... yeah...

He's been creaming it straight to the fielders a lot of the time. Unfortunately this style of play seems to be here to stay in Australia.

True true, much better with someone who gets clean bowled twice in the same match.
