if mcmillan is determined to open with a colin, the other one has the better technique, timing, power and scores all around the ground.

I joked about Southee but given Munro is more or less just pinch hitting at this point it wouldn't surprise me a whole lot if they asked Bracewell to do it.

The rage on here would be off the charts. :p

Haha yeah I've said since the start that I thought they tried the opening thing with the whole Colin. I don't see them going there though. Probably more chance of Bracewell doing it.

He's looked pretty decent the few times I've seen him bat since his return.

Not like he'll be keeping out any gun bowlers, Henry and Southee can all get smashed and don't offer as much with the bat.
Boult, Ferguson, Milne & Bennett are the pace bowlers clearly better than Bracewell.

Maaaybe it's time we give up on the whole "one opener needs to be like baz" thing and just play two normal batsmen opening. The quality of opening bowlers is just too good at the moment. give young a spot at 4 and shift Kane up.

Bracewell's only about the fourth best seamer in his domestic side

Ok he gets some points for his last couple of NZ innings, do it a few more times in matches we haven't already lost and it would start to count.

Sad part is Munro seems to have forgotten he averages 50 in FC cricket. Bats like a pinch-hitter instead of a batsman. Doesn't seem to have the cricketing nous to approach his ODI innings differently to his T20 ones.

Still not convinced about Bracewell and Sodhi whose figures flattered him the other day.

I'm thinking:

Latham/Nicholls
Guptill
KW
RT
Latham/Nicholls
Neesham
Astle
Santner
???????
Boult
Ferguson

i was thinking earlier i'd like to see munro's odi record before and after his fc retirement.

seems to look to score squarer and squarer with every innings. it's point, cover, midwicket or behind square with him now

Actually Bracewell or Kugglejin at 9 would give us strong batting to 9 with 5 bowlers plus Neesham and Williamson
