Wherever it falls on the spectrum, Thunder were denied an almost certain win, and Brisbane (in some form) were at fault and benefited from that error.

It's a no-brainer for me. I doubt justice will prevail though

It's not the grounds fault, they said it was an external black out. You can't really put that down to incompetence from the hosting side unless you think the side should be held accountable for the city's error

What are the minimum standards for lighting anyway? Because their still seemed to be plenty of light out there with the three other towers and assorted lights on the stands. So was it actually (as watching on television doesn't give the best impression of the actual level of light) dark enough that play couldn't continue, or what?

Must a ground have a minimum number of lighting towers, so that Melbourne is safe with six, but Brisbane is right on the edge at four? What about Perth, which has no distinct towers at all?
Or, must all of the floodlights be working (more-or-less, I'm sure I've seen lighting towers with non-functional elements before); if so, why would that be when all of the lights might not be needed?

Or, must lighting be even over the whole ground? Certainly, the end furthest away from all the functional lights will be darker, but what if it is light enough anyway. There still wouldn't be the sort of problem one gets in the daytime with shadows crossing the ground. And it is even possible that things might be easier to to see given that the lighting will be less flat than with it coming from all directions.

Basically, has any thought gone into these scenarios, and if so, how much?

Apparently the Thunder are planning to appeal the result. I know emotions are probably still a bit high but if they expect to be awarded 2 points and the Heat to get docked their points they're dreaming.

It sucks that the Heat were on the lucky side of a rain affected result last game but cmon.

Yeah I can't see them getting the result they're after at all from that. Might have a better argument if something inside the ground caused the problem, but apparently it was an external problem with the coal-fired power system in Qld (contrary to reports that only States with renewable energy have black outs).

Apparently the lights came back on about 10 minutes after they called the game.

Not sure about wickets considering he hasn't bowled a single ball so far this tournament. Considering his age and injury history he would probably be getting it through at a pace somewhere between medium and stationary

Considering the complete paucity of batting depth, I would have to agree. Didn't think I would have been saying that two or three years ago

Given that the likes of Watson and North would walk into the side today, I'm fearful that in 5 years time we'll all be pining for Mitchell Marsh.....
