*Official* Sri Lanka Tour of New Zealand 2018/19

Great. The two players I despise the most in the NZ set up got us a decent total and wickets. Haha. Ferguson was pretty good though. Gutted that Phillips didn't get a game.

Ferguson turning out to be indispensable. Hope he didn't pick up some sort of an injury towards the end.

ferguson shaping to be an absolute gun. Reckon he's really benefited from developing the basis of his game out of the spotlight unlike Milne. Regarding bracewell, I'm not totally against him being around the LO setup if his batting proves to be an asset. He's not worth a spot as a pure bowler though.

ferguson doesn't fit in the test team yet unless southee's 125kph nothings transfer to that format or we pretend santa is a #7.

i want him to take the new ball alongside boult for the india odis tho. first reserve for tests given he's a shield menace and our second best odi quick.

why? wagner's had a quiet year bar a couple of spells but i don't see anything career ending. he's probably still the fittest bowler in the team.

or we stop bothering with a specialist spinner in home tests
given how much use we made of ajaz, not a bad shout. still indispensable insurance tho

tbh mike swapping wagner for ferguson relies heavily on southee and boult coping with longer spells or spamming lord colin overs even harder (your strategy also relies on this)

I hate using australia as an exemplar, but we need to take a leaf out of their book with our test bowling situation. Just because you have a group of guys doing a good job doesn't mean you don't make room for a bloke blasting the door down.

i'll compromise with ya - boult and southee are going to the world cup. regardless of forum opinion, they're the new ball attack.

how ****ing pissed would you be if they rocked up injured for the cup due to a heavy workload? rest at least one for the test series against bangers imo. they're not winning here even if they bat well against wagner and guests because their pace attack is club level.

ferguson plays the 3 banglawhocares tests, probably gets injured for the world cup, but oh well aye.

I don't think he's past it or anything, and he's genuinely the fittest bowler I've ever seen play for us so I don't necessarily buy the 'he's 32-33 now so one bad performance means he must be on the wane'.

But teams and coaching staff aren't underrating a guy with his record and success anymore. More and more he's going to be coming up against blokes that have played him once, twice, three times, etc. He's still a good bowler so I'd back him to produce decent results, but just not on the level I think Ferguson could at the moment.

It's rare that a guy like Lockie comes along, and he's producing results consistently at all levels. And most importantly, he's not made of glass.

i thought both kuggs and doug bowled decently tonight. tbh i'd like to see both get a run against india and rotate boult, ferguson, henry, doug and kuggs to find the best 3 unless southee wants to rediscover 2012 - 2015 at the very last minute.

hamish bennett odi career rip

this is fair, but i think us kiwis (much like our australian cousins) tend to prematurely blow our loads over players who show something (and write players off based on a game or two). i'd be happy to rest southee and boult for at leat 2 of the bangladesh tests to send in wagner as attack leader with ferguson and someone else to see what happens.

southee and boult return for the 3rd test if bangers get a sniff of respectability to put them back in their place.

Yeah but Wagner should never be given the new ball.

Henry
Ferguson
Wagner
Santner
Bracewell

will do fine vs Bangas and Mash.
