What was WI's population and they managed to boss it for so many years. SA too and up until recently, only Afrikaans and English Saffers who were tiny minority of overall population cared about the game and they have managed to produce so many ATGs.

Cuba has population of 11 million vs 300+ million from USA and still they have won more babseball gold medals; despite USA being crazy about the game and having far more resources/ training facilities at their disposal.

There are several other examples. So, I don't see any direct correlation between population/ economy and the quality of output.
You clearly do see a direct correlation. What you're saying is that you don't see an absolute correlation without exceptions. There will always be exceptions, it doesn't mean that a trend isn't strongly supported.

Even if cricket has competition it is still one amongst equals. Might not be no 1 like as in Asia but still popular. Even the average casual Aussie knows something about cricket. /in england football is way way bigger. It's like hockey in india compared to cricket. Only diehards follow it.
Not even close. It's popularity is diminishing as well. I predict a decade or 2 from now cricket in Aus will be mostly ex-pat Indians & Sri Lankans. It's already looking that way in some club circles (they just aren't very good).

Well done to India

Pretty sure that I picked 2-1 prior to the series so well done me

Hoping that this will be catalyst for a massive overhaul of the game here but not holding my breath

I can see it now: We clearly suck at Tests, so we should focus on T20, make the Big Bash 5 months long.

Well done to us. Hopefully this distinctly beta-sque overcelebration becomes a thing of the past as we make winning abroad a habit.
We are in Pax Indica brother. This is just the beginning.

Ganguly was like Babur, created the empire.
Dhoni is like Humayun, expanded the empire for a while but got weak in the end.
Kohli is Akbar, the greatest of them all and who will recover the losses of his predecessor and expand the empire further.

And in a couple of generations we'll have the zenith, cricket's Taj Mahal.

Cricket might become like NBA, MLB etc then with becoming a pure Indian league sport with foreign players playing with a few internationals here and there.

Frankly if test cricket became obsolete I'd walk away and encourage my children to other activities.

I don't think your Mughal analogy is as good as you think it is considering that the Mughals very much began as foreign rulers and maintained a linguistic and cultural separation from the Indian populace. You also know that the logical end is the destruction of Indian cricket as a independent entity.

I am just having fun, man. Chill. Let me enjoy the afterglow of this victory.

How is it annoying?
I tend to find economy with facts annoying (except when I'm doing it), especially when used in the pursuit of smug.

You wouldn't have thought this team had just lost 4-1 against an England team with no top order thanks to a sandy haired 20-year old. Winning this series doesn't mean that India will constantly dominate forever from now on.
