This morning on Cricinfo: Robert Brown: "About time we stop talking Smith and Warner, as an Australian, would rather not see them again, no forgiveness from me"

Ouch! Can't imagine many other Aussies supporting this opinion.

Most of the people who support that opinion don't watch the cricket.

OK, but it would still be interesting to know how prevalent that opinion is among Aussie cricket supporters. If, say, Williamson, Taylor and Raval had engaged in that sort of cheating while playing for NZ I wouldn't want them anywhere near the team ever again.

'Cause I've done an opinion poll. It exists, but definitely more so amongst 'casuals'.

You're silly.

Spare us the sanctimony, if we banned everyone for life for doing something dodgy with the ball then half of active cricketers would be gone

The opinions of the fairness of the bans pretty much correlates entirely with how much they watch cricket. Those who agree with the 12 months or think it should've been longer either 1. have no idea about cricket outside of Australia or 2. buy into very cringy forms of Australian exceptionalism (which is why a lot of Australian sports reporting is utter trash).
