anyway my strong view on this whole subject is that the soft signal system should remain as it is. furthermore, what constitutes clear evidence to overturn the soft signal should consist only of clear evidence that the ball has bounced. not "touched one blade of grass", not "been close to the ground", but bounced, i.e. had a clear change of momentum from down to up that is not the result of the fielder's actions.

so this would be still not out under that framework.
Pretty much my view on the subject, I just stopped trying to argue it... particularly people wanting to get rid of the umpires soft signal because cameras are 'better'.

I'm not quite sure I saw it clearly bounce... but I did think it was not clean caught. I would not have been to upset if given out based off the umpires soft signal.

2nd session batting under the sun in Cape Town after wearing down the quicks in first session.

Yasir Shah will have to step up.

I want us to bat out the day at least... gives us a chance to get into a 4th day. (terribly arrogant I know...)

Great knock that.

The little embrace with Temba just highlights there is no one better in the game for body contact with other players on the field of play than Faf these days.

Faf needed this one. It hasn't been as concerning (felt like a matter of time), but he's actually been the worst in the middle recently.

Not a fan of the soft signal, should be done away with. Same as I hate umpires call.

It's out either or not. If its unclear benifit of the doubt goes to the batsman as always.

He has not been that bad... one of the few to scores runs in SL, and scored a ton against Aus. Been pretty good in LO stuff as well. Nothing to flashy but solid.

In tests specifically, he's been horrible. Averaged 24 last year. Drops to about 16 if you exclud his Wanderers AUS hundred, which was an ATG pointless downhill skiing candidate.

He's looked fine in other formats, and hasn't had a glaring issue unlike almost all the other bats

Nobody has averaged very high... we talking about series here in SA on pretty difficult pitches and the 2 tests in SL. I don't know how (can't be bothered!) to check the avg for the SA top 7 in the last year but nobody has really excelled.
