Pakistan Tour of South Africa 2018/19

Assume no injuries. KG, Nigidi and Nortje. du Pavillion if he recovers would be up there. What I would like to see is another swing bowler that gets it up there. KG does both. Ngidi back of length.
Man Stephen ?, what's poor old Duanne got to do to impress you? He can't even make it past two unproven prospects yet!

So the only other proper batsmen on bench is now injured too. Harris out of the series. Shame on Inzimam for not selecting enough batters

I dunno.

A lot of speculation over the years though, one "story" I seen he was riding the daughter of someone important in Pakistan cricket circles. That's possibly bollocks, but clearly something odd has happened that we don't know about.

They did give him a run in the ODI side a few years ago, he had some moments, but was ultimately a mini Misbah without the six hitting from nowhere skill.
Whenever a player is not selected, Pak media starts speculating about player having affair with someone's daughter in PCB circle. Akhtar started these rumours when he said that a PCB chairman offered him to marry his daughter and then captaincy of the team which he rejected.

Consistent line and length..... less erratic. My expectations are high I’m from RSA. :)
I'm from Durban so you won't find any who wants a fit Dupavillion more than me! But I'm warming up to Olivier.

The more pressing issue is talk about dropping de Bruyn. What sort of message will that send? He scored a century three innings ago and that 29 in the first dig at Centurion was important in getting us a lead. He still has lots to prove but he can't be that easily discarded!

I`m not against Olivier, more than deserves his opportunity. I was just replying to the question with regards to who is the 3rd bowler after KG and Ngidi I would like to see when Steyn and Vern retire... which for balance reasons I would prefer to be a swinging type bowler. Both KG and Ngidi can do a back of a length enforcer role.

Yep. Can't drop de Bruyn, which if he is practising for 4th slip position hopefully means he is in the team. Can't fit a bowler in for a batsmen right now, even if all the current bowlers have done nothing wrong hard choices must be made. Still think it will be Maharaj,

Never knew you could get Whatsapp emoticons to work on here.

EDIT : Apparently they don't when you quote it.

Resting your best bowlers while the test series is still alive. Yeah right, would be ridiculous.

Ya, it's called being dropped for the game. They aren't dropping Rabada.

Dropping Maharaj could sense if the pitch really, really calls for it. Otherwise it's a choice between Steyn, the best player in the world, who looks in good form. Or De Bruyn, who has no pedigree and is either poor or in poor form.

I'd drop Steyn.

Hmm I have been hearing its going to be hot (in the 30's) with windy conditions. Wont that help the spinners ?

67 test wickets at 22.04 for Steyn at Newlands. When its flat its flat and I remember spells at Tendulkar, Ponting and Prior that were out of this world. Early season wicket seams but at this stage of the summer swing on that Newlands length has been some of Steyns mastery.

I hope the Olivier enforcer thing doesn't become a thing.

According to Google weather.

Wind is 30kph + everyday which indicates the wind will be pumping.

The battery.

Thando Ntini and Michael Cohen also bowled to the Proteas.

Even Benkenstein's kids were with the Proteas. Luc & Jack. Luc is the older one and was KZN Inland u13 cricketer of the year last year.

Almost sounds chilly. Last game 1st day was 36 at around 3/3.30, so likely a bit hotter earlier.
Yeah. Its the wind. When it pumps with that south-easter we don't get to 30.

So whilst warm I don't think it will be the heat that will cause massive wear and tear on the wicket.

Also the new wicket at Newlands has been firmer. Very debatable how much foot marks will be created.
