I love big Vern, but part of being an international sportsman is keeping yourself fit. Now I understand that this injury is not fitness related, but I'm not as sympathetic with Vern as I used to be. Olivier really shouldn't get dropped, but I have no idea how they fit all of these guys in. Our bowling stocks will always give us a chance to win games, but our batting is going to lose us games at the moment.

Imagine Abbott, Morkel, Steyn, Radaba, Philander, Ngidi and now Olivier being available for selection.

You could make 2 separate pace attacks that would be among, if not the best in the world.
You'd still have one left over there as well.

So just random off topic question: What happened to Fawad Alam? Not that I think he'd ace it or anything, but constantly piles on runs in domestic cricket and did nothing wrong enough to get dropped for so long. Got shafted big time, surely.

I dunno.

A lot of speculation over the years though, one "story" I seen he was riding the daughter of someone important in Pakistan cricket circles. That's possibly bollocks, but clearly something odd has happened that we don't know about.

They did give him a run in the ODI side a few years ago, he had some moments, but was ultimately a mini Misbah without the six hitting from nowhere skill.

Yeah surely pissed someone off. ODIs clearly not his thing (although it's not as if he sucked massively at it), but can't believe they shuffled w/ a lot of dire af players and yet he got constantly shafted.

Nobody, ever, spoke about Amla being omitted again. At least, not for a dozen years. Until last week. There was a strong and informed suggestion that Zubayr Hamza would have played had Amla failed twice in Centurion.
It was definitely getting close. Lets not kid ourselves. Dropped in 2nd innings at Centurion too. So we not out of the woods yet but Amla really started flowing after that which was a good sign.

Gotta be Maharaj....if de Bruyn gets dropped be very unfair for him when still trying to become established, needs an opportunity. Still not that big a fan of Oliviers long run....
Who would you want as the third seamer once vern & dale goes? I am assuming kg & ngidi will be the front two.

I do fear Ngidi's injury history too. Nortje has a injury history as well.

What is going for Olivier is these long spells he seems to bowl. I remember him bowling a 10-over spell of bumpers with good heat at Bangladesh in Bloem.

Assume no injuries. KG, Nigidi and Nortje. du Pavillion if he recovers would be up there. What I would like to see is another swing bowler that gets it up there. KG does both. Ngidi back of length.

You already have a surplus of very good quick bowlers.
What I'd like to see is Amla and Markram do justice to their ability. I suppose there is no point in hoping to see the greater AB make a come back.

Was answering a question regards our bowlers.... not discussing our current batting problems. See SA selection thread for that. No chance of AB returning.
