Kindly also remove all the runs scored by Ponting on Australian flat track . He would barely average 46
And while we're at it, let's remove all the runs Tendulkar scored in India.

It's silly and ridiculous. The only sides that can legitimately claim that their batsmen are unfairly treated by the pitches are South Africa, England and New Zealand. Everywhere else it's easy to score runs at home for home batsmen.

I think India batting (minus Pujara) reminds me of my trip to Bombay/Mumbai. 5 lanes of traffic doing whatever they feel like, no crashes but lucky to survive

wouldn't even class england and new zealand in this category imo. really only just SA, which is why many SA batsmen average more away from home.

Let's remove Kohl's double against Bangladesh and his two doubles against Sri Lanka to be fair as well.

As a matter of fact, let's remove all his tons and all his runs scored at home.

No Indian batsmen are most unfairly treated . All of Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Dravid, Kohli have more test centuries outside Asia than most of AUS legends combined together in Asia.

We play too much outside Asia .

yes i cannot think of any possible reason why india plays the majority of its away tests outside of asia. no reason at all.

5 major opponents outside Asia for India. 3 major opponents for Aus in Asia . So runs scored should be in 5:3 ratio . (Ignore above ratio for Border and Gavaskar because SA and SL was not in their time )

Check total runs and average of Ponting and Dravid , Steve Waugh and Tendulkar . If you know maths , have studied ratio and proportion and know how to calculate average , then you can pretty much conclude that Ponting and Steve waugh wouldn't have averaged 50 as test batsmen if they had played sufficient number of matches in Asia.

So, errr... Can we talk about how Ishant is out for Sydney and kl Rahul might be back and Ashwin may be playing injured again. No? OK I guess.

Edit: thank you borges
Not feeling too optimistic about this match now. Losing would put a bit of a downer on things. Seeing as we're incapable of grinding out draws..

That tour was the start of the decline of the #1 side. They just completely stopped working hard after the WC win imo. Never seen so many people skip a tour before.

How does Bhuvi not make the final 13. We're missing both Rohit and Ishant, Bhuvi would have been the perfect swap.

Looks like Yadav in for Ishant. Hope we play Lokesh at 6. Wouldn't mind 5 bowlers with Ashwin as second spinner too, but I'd rather the extra batting and good fielding from Lokesh.
What's the deal with Bhuvi? How/why has he effectively been dropped from the Indian team?

He's always looked a damn fine bowler (I know his WPM is quite low though, but so is his average and a mid-50s strike rate isn't TOO bad) - and can add some runs too with the bat.

Only partly true, really. Laxman and dravid didn't play odis at that point. They just all got old together. Zaheer and Sehwag's declines had a lot to do with what you said though.

He was one of the first names picked in England. Too bad he was injured.

Should've definitely played in Perth and in SA of course.

As did Tendulkar's. Man was in beast mode before the WC win.

He was like 3 million years old with 22 years of wear and tear. The decline was coming anyway.

Sehwag and Zaheer, especially should've easily given another 3 years of solid output if they hadn't gotten lazy. Zaheer was actually still bowling great as he showed in those 5 overs in England before he broke down.
