Cummins is going to be so vital in this innings. The only one who can look threatening on flat decks.

The Wheel is Forever
They’ll both be filthy they didn’t get to play on this thing
Yeah that’s why I wanted both of them dropped. MCG is one of the worst pitches in world cricket and I didn’t want them to score runs here and buy themselves a few more Tests where they’d just fail again.

On another note, I love Indian openers who see off the new ball like Vihari. Indian batting tends to be strongest in the middle (Gavaskar excepted), and seeing off the new ball and protecting that middle order in overseas tests is worth it’s weignt in gold. Regardless of how many runs are scored. There is usually no shortage of good stroke players in the Indian middle order so the runs will usually come if there is a good start.

Wouldn’t surprise anyone Vihari got out like that after the way he played the short stuff in Perth. Bloke isn’t an opener, but he did a job this morning.

Poor guy. There were runs on a flat deck batting at 6 for him, but all that will be Rohit's now.
