A musket maybeIs Sangha meant to be a gun?
I know right, Flem should have made him madder and talked more over him.Slater sounds legit pissed with Flem there
Lol
It was pretty interesting actually. Never heard slats act like that in ten years as a channel 9 guyI know right, Flem should have made him madder and talked more over him.
And drop no 5 or 6 I believe
He had batsmen to chat with for 15 years, the egos melded. It was pretty interesting actually. Never heard slats act like that in ten years as a channel 9 guy
He seemed to have no patience for Flem's jokes
Better T20 batsman than Larkin who's in the teamWhat is Evan Gulbis' role in the Stars? He bats 7 or 8 and never seems to bowl. Specialist fielder?
Honestly not sure what the point of Gulbis is in this team, he didn't bowl at all, probably isn't going to contribute 4 overs reliably, and unlike Maxwell or Stoinis he doesn't have the body of work with the bat at this level to be play as a batsman alone.Sangha and Sams have saved the Thunder here. Not sure Stars can chase this, they are not a batting team.
I think Beer might be done. Doesn't really deserve a place with Zampa/Lamichane/Maxwell in the team, and I was thinking at the start of the game that Stars have way too many bowlers and not enough batting. Gulbis, Stoinis and Maxwell all pretty much playing as specialist batsmen, it's a waste. But then I realised they probably don't even have any good batsmen in reserve if Larkin is in the XI.
Is Aus cricket in such a batting slump that you're better off picking a 7th bowler in your T20 team than another batsman, because they all suck?
Yeah but, even if he doesn't bowl, do they really have a batsman in reserve better than Gulbis? As I said, selecting Larkin would indicate that they don't.Honestly not sure what the point of Gulbis is in this team, he didn't bowl at all, probably isn't going to contribute 4 overs reliably, and unlike Maxwell or Stoinis he doesn't have the body of work with the bat at this level to be play as a batsman alone.
That being said, he probably would have been worth a try instead of keeping on with spin when the ball was wet and being dispatched.
EDIT: Starfighter beat me to it
You can just see it can't you. All the commentators have their meeting pre-tournament at Channel 7 HQ to discuss how to go about it. Then Slats walks in 20 minutes late, tries talking to everyone making jokes as he grabs the chair at the head of the table and puts his feet up. Then he talks about how he worked with Richie Benaud, who anointed Slats his successor on his deathbed for years doing real commentary, and then tells everyone to go **** themselves and this is the way we should do things. Every time Brad Hodge has a suggestion Slats laughs over him and tries to remind Hodge of how many tests he played. Brayshaw says something and Slats lays into him about his entire career from the moment he picked up a bat as a child.Wonder if there was a bit of elitism too. Like us test commentators know more then you big bashers lead by Howie
I would be utterly stunned if they didn't have anyone better. Would take a mediocre specialist over a mediocre bits and pieces man anydayYeah but, even if he doesn't bowl, do they really have a batsman in reserve better than Gulbis? As I said, selecting Larkin would indicate that they don't.
