*Official* India Tour of Australia 2018/19

Could this test be any more in the balance?

3-172 is a score that can go anywhere. Kohli and Rahane could go large and get India a lead. Alternatively a wicket or two first up could give Australia a solid first innings lead.

Maddeningly Cummins has been incredibly unlucky not to have two ten wicket hauls so far. He's executing so well but I think India have identified him as the danger man and are purposefully shutting down against him. Kohli vs Cummins was great to watch.

I don’t think it is in balance yet. It is still 70:30 Australia. As Ankit said, the last 4 can add 20 and next two can add 50-60 on a good day. Even if all of that happens, It still leaves these two to get at least 100 more tomorrow to make a match of this.

If India can take 50-60 runs lead they will definately have winning shot . Spinners don't have much effect here so Nathan lyon can't do much ( only he can rip through indian batting line on day 4&5 pitch for me ) .

Yeah I think India will be worried about having to bat last.

It is actually a quite plausible scenario. However, the if is a very big if: at the moment, Australia are well ahead in the game, and would be expected to win.
Fair enough. Would you say this Indian team went into this tour with a greater chance of winning than the 77' one?

The issue is the long tail for India and the fact that they have to bat last. What are the betting markets saying about odds of an India vs Australia win?

But India aren’t massively behind or anything. The game is slightly in Australia’s favor I would say.

EDIT: India at 2.62, Australia at 2, and the draw at 5.5. I think those are fair.

Our guys will probably bowl fuller in the next innings and get them out cheaply. Honestly feel like we have a shot here though au are slightly ahead now.

Yes. Even in 1977, when Australia had very good test match pitches (the best in the world in terms of variety), a team needed decent quick bowling to win a series in Australia.

What do you all think of Rahul? Got a peach today but he clearly doesn't have what it takes.
Probably someone whispered in his ears that he is insanely talented and just need to turn up to score runs in test matches. He believed it on face value and rest is for everyone to see.

We're definitely a lot further ahead than I thought we would be early in Session 2 on Day 1. Hard not to feel hopeful after how well they played today. Feels like the momentum is with India atm.
