Don’t want to bang on about it but India just persisted in bowling too short for the most part. This Bumrah bloke though - love him. Goes as hard at stumps as he does at the start, good pace, shapes it and hits the bat hard. Best Indian quick to ever tour here.

A disappointing day. Match situation is maybe even though we'll have to see how the pitch plays tomorrow, if the sideways movement eases before the bounce gets really irregular India could get a good lead. We should have been 3-4/300 or so (and heading to over 400) but absolutely dumb batting has cost us against bowling that has been good in some patches but poor in others. I'd certainly think India should count themselves lucky they've got the wickets they have. The galling thing is you just know Langerville will be satisfied with the mediocrity.

At least it was a good day's watching, even compelling at times. Something sorely lacking from Australian cricket the past few seasons.

Why when it's clearly an up and down wicket already & likely to get only more unpredictable? Assuming you've been watching.
I have, and only one dismissal was due to the wicket rather than poor technique or indiscipline. We seem to be too easily satisfied with such outcomes.

Good day for Australia

No real comfort that our best batting techniques are owned by numbers 1, 7, 8 & 10

We were too profligate. The little wicket spurt post-lunch was due to consistent pressure. This Aussie top order don't really have the nous to bat time so the focus should've been on bowling dry. 277 is far too many conceded on day one.

For all we complain about Plant's keeping, his athleticism and good hands really saved us a lot of runs in byes. Kid's a great athlete.

Yeah he was good. Dropped that one standing up but that happens. Otherwise thought he was very good.

Why is Gambhiring called Gambhiring? Gambhir always struck me as a positive type.

Australia ahead but days 2 and 3 are normally the best batting conditions. India look set to make 650-5 dec. onwards to an innings victory.
