*Official* Pakistan v New Zealand in the UAE 2018

I know I know I should enjoy their tears etc....but in the main match report on Cricinfo we have this whingeing mess of an article.

Fancy a team wins its first series overs against Pakistan in nearly 50 years, with huge contributions from one of the best batsmen in the world, and two veteran debutants and you come up with pearlers like this:
Yeah noticed that immediately when I read the article, but that's generally been the theme all tour long with Danyal Rasool. Still pathetic though, NZ effected a massive turnaround across days 4 and 5 and needs to be acknowledged as such. The first test, you could argue Pakistan blew it; this one, surely no arguments that they were well and truly outplayed in the end.

Then again Pakistan imploding is such a familiar trope so why not go with the low hanging fruit.

Interesting to see pressure on Sarfraz regarding the captaincy, can't see who they would replace him with. Azhar led the ODI team for a little while but that didn't really go that well from memory. Not sure what other options there would be.

Btw, it's shocking how little test cricket Southee has played in the last couple years. For all we've bagged him, he's done pretty well in that time. Since the Pakistan series in 2016, he's taken 47 wickets in 9 matches at 23 apiece.

Yeah Osman's always seemed pretty good tbf. I admit I haven't actually read through the piece yet, just saw the headline so maybe it's just their editors..
Yeah reading the article and he’s like “the stereotype is Nz punch above their weight, but mate they’re a ****ing good team”

That’s what I’m always saying hombre. Southee secretly is good again

England 1999 for mine, but a bit biased as I watched practically every ball of that series and remember it in great detail. NZ dominated a fair bit in that series and it was a sort of coming of age for Fleming, Cairns, Nash etc.
Lucky you ... I remember in NZ we only had daily highlights, until the final test, which was shown live!

And lol at Rameez Raja yelling out “A-hoy!!!” as Kane was taking the trophy and Kane turning around thinking Rameez was reprimanding him.

And then Kane proceeds to ignore the sponsors and throw away their banner.
Also Williamson almost overbalanced when picking up the Oye Hoye trophy ... grossly underestimating the weight of the great trophy.

And that was Watling holding his Safe Hand of the Match banner proudly that Williamson threw away.

What a great win ... I was on a flight from Sydney to Wellington when we won the first test, and at a Straitjacket Fits concert last night as we won, so claim partial responsibility for not being around to curse us.

Was good to see CDG have a few important contributions on the final day, I've criticised him a lot on here, but it's good to see the experience hasn't broken him.

Somerville in tears was awesome, obviously meant a lot to him. Love the passion in Pak.

ajaz definitely should be the top pick for NZ tests - he's proven himself season after season in home conditions.
I think it depends how big a role they think the spinner is going to play. He should definitely be first picked specialist spinner, but it may not be the case that they think such a player would bring more to the table than someone who could score lower order runs as well.
