What's with cricinfo's obsession with Rohit playing this series? Even if India play six specialist batsmen he still probably won't be selected, but I've seen articles ranging from just advocating for his selection (fair enough, although they seem to be really ramming these down our throats) to going a step further, assuming his selection and offering thoughts as to how he should play.

Maybe it's the SCG that's really bad.

Also props to Rahane for having the arrogance to retire out just after reaching 50 in this match given his test form this year.

Huge knock from Herry Neilsen. Given the Aus selectors' penchant for picking players with the correct 'lineage' we might be seeing him in the side sometime soon.

No problem at all. Rahane is out of touch atm. He struggled to score runs on this pitch!

Why did Kuldeep only bowl one over?
Bumrah only bowling two surprised me as well. At first I thought they were trying to simulate a real match by only using eleven players, but that doesn't work if you look at who batted. They weirdly seemed pretty determined to only use 13 until the very end of that innings when Kohli got frustrated, but 13 is a weird number of players to stick to.

Am fairly certain that

Bhuvi
Bumrah
Shami
Ishant
Ashwin

will be India's bowling line up in the first test. Jadeja, for all his progress, probably isn't the right pick on flat pitches. Ashwin over Kuldeep because of experience and batting.

I would pick up Jadeja over Ashwin overseas every single time. Especially after Ashwin's stubborn antics in England. At least Jadeja is a known quantity and can be trusted to implement plans, simple as they might be.

Looks like India's bowling will let them down big time. Don't expect much from the batsmen bar Kohli. The players who interest me most in this series are Cummins, Kohli and Khwaja.

How many tests before Ashwin is dropped?
