Damn it... I was at the match today, and this was a sad collapse. Stokes was really the key. Mathews was playing the bouncer, but Mendis was leaving them. Losing Mathews at that point was crucial.

Nevertheless toothless batting by SL.

This is going to be 3-0 all the way.

English variety in the attack is just unbelievable. They need to find a Chinaman to become complete.
Eng have tendency to loose 1 test out of last 15 test series, might be ECB beaten by tomorrow because Colombo is their favorites

Sandakan 3 overs for 25 including a wicket off a massive no ball.

Sheesh.
He is on foot step with other great bowler like R.P Singh, Vivek Razdan, Adil Rashid and Nayeem Hasan with 5fer but fail to impress in the second innings

Last 3 bowlers took 5 fer in their debut test but remains wicket -less in other innings vs

Pakistan
Pakistan
Westindies

Respectively.

Wow, Sandakan.

England looking strong here. 200 should be more than enough.
Is it really turning that much? Genuine question, as I haven't seen any of it.

In other news, I gather that Sky have just shown a montage of the Sandakan's no-balls that were missed by the umpire this morning. How can that happen?
Apparently 40% of his deliveries were illegal. That's genuinely shocking.

40% is the figure they keep quoting in comms. It’s lazy from the umpires, a match may come along where 10 extra runs might make a difference... Shocking from the bowler though, and it generally looks like Sri Lanka have given up now.

It's this sort of thing why I hate the attitude of 'just check it for the wickets'. Despite what people like ***** might say it's pretty clear that bowlers can be expected to overstep regularly (think back to the nineties when it wasn't uncommon for the West Indies to have no-ball counts going well into double figures). That quantity of no-balls being missed (all the extra deliveries from a clearly struggling bowler going at seven an over that could be a boon to the batsmen) might make a significant difference in a game where runs are tight. It also robs the bowler of a chance to correct, and as previously stated 'they should have it sorted out' is not good enough, especially with there being any number of reasons that might throw a bowler off. again, how is a bowler supposed to correct if they don't know that they're overstepping? The current mindset is simply abrogating the umpire's duty to enforce the rules correctly. It's not good enough and the ICC has to look at doing something drastic about it. The fact they've missed apparently so many (I'm sceptical it was 40% but even three every two overs is shockingly high) shows that there's no attempt at all to call them. If you think that it doesn't matter you're fooling yourself.

Edit: also the whole celebrating a wicket and then having to go through the tedious replay only to have it overturned thing really firstly must have a worse impact on team morale than having it called on the field immediately and secondly really kills the moment for the viewer.

Nah but 4th innings should turn more for sure.

So, no-balls don't matter as long as a wicket is taken. I might actually be okay with that.
