Tbh he couldn't be worse than Rahane is currently in tests. Though, of course, there are people ahead of him in the pecking order. There's an article on the CA website saying Rohit Sharma is vice captain. I presume that's only for LO stuff, because as an Australian supporter I would dearly love it to be in tests too.
TBF he'd probably walk into our side now....which admittedly says nothing. There's an article on the CA website saying Rohit Sharma is vice captain. I presume that's only for LO stuff, because as an Australian supporter I would dearly love it to be in tests too.
It's not even just him being epic at ODI level. He's also dominated Indian domestics and he has scored runs at Tests (though admittedly all of them against weak attacks at home)You can see why he'd still be considered, sort of in the hope he will come good and transfer that LO form to tests because he's so prodigious. But can also see why they'd move on from him and look at others given the number of chances he's had.
Problem is he’s been batting with a stump recentlyTbf Rahane's record in Australia isn't bad.
His record everywhere outside India was great. But then he forgot how to bat.Tbf Rahane's record in Australia isn't bad.
He is not over rated. No body rates him all that highly in the first place. Has played some good knocks overseas but thats about it. Better than any available Aussie batsman though.Nah, massively over rated. Had a bit of a purple patch then reverted to mean. Called it at the time.
I tried to think of an argument against this but I can'tBetter than any available Aussie batsman though.
M8 Kohli is as alpha as it comesFMD four years ago he was being yapped up on here as being as good as Kohli, particularly away from home. How long has he been in the doldrums for? It seems to have been a fair while.
On another note, what alpha males? I mean, come on.
Yeah you would have to imagine the Indian dressing room is a bit of a pressure cooker what with so many guys looking to break their way into the team. Basically his friends and teammates are also his rivals.I wonder sometimes if it's just a self belief thing with Rahane. Such a soft spoken, agreeable guy in a team full of aggressive alpha males. He doesn't have the best fundamental batting technique, seems to rely a lot on confidence to put things together. He was overlooked for India for so long, all while dominating domestically, and then being in and out of the ODI side and constantly having his spot questioned in Tests. I wonder if that self belief just isn't there like it used to be.
Khawaja > Rahane.I tried to think of an argument against this but I can't
India probably have guys not even making the squad who are better than any available Aussie batsman
