A bit more turn than we usually see on Day 1 here -- I wouldn't want to bat on it on Day 4 -- but largely what Flem said. This pitch different from its usual road self?
Yeah he averages less than 30, even accounting for the fact that he averages 87 in Bangladesh. There's been reverse and there's been spin. The galling thing will be when our bowlers don't get the same.
Does Watling's grinding method actually work for him in Asia? Off the top of my head I think not, I think his average would be a fair bit lower there than elsewhere.
Yeah, looks like quite slow turn at the moment.A bit more turn than we usually see on Day 1 here -- I wouldn't want to bat on it on Day 4 -- but largely what Flem said.
Didn't he get a 100 in UAE in 2014?Yeah he averages less than 30, even accounting for the fact that he averages 87 in Bangladesh.
Nah his highest score there is 42. Maybe you're mixing him up with Latham.Didn't he get a 100 in UAE in 2014?
Hit his shoe first. Shoe is considered 'pad'That was 100% bat first. The spike they've called pad was the bat hitting the pad, it was very clear on the side by side sync.
Hrmm, averages just under 20 in both India and UAE after 4 tests each, highest scores of 25 and 42 respectively, while has never played a test in Sri Lanka. That certainly matches my impression that he hangs around for 40-80 balls but no longer.Yeah he averages less than 30, even accounting for the fact that he averages 87 in Bangladesh.
Haha I'm fully aware that shoe is considered pad but I don't think it hit his shoe at all.Hit his shoe first. Shoe is considered 'pad'
Yeah he hasn't done that well (it's not a large sample size TBH) but part of the problem has been he has very often been left to bat with the tail very early on in his innings, and he needs a reasonably capable partner at the other end to be able to play his way and build a score (someone like a Mark Craig, with whom he has shared a couple of good stands). There's been reverse and there's been spin. The galling thing will be when our bowlers don't get the same.
