just noticed Rutherford is indeed in the XI and listed at 9 - so I think we can assume cricinfo's order is wrong

I'd love to know what has happened to Kuggeleijn. Only in this squad it seems because Ferguson wasn't ready to go yet, and now seems to have fallen right behind the likes of Rance and even Bracewell. So much for a good tour of the UAE.

Excellent starts by 3 players plus Vijay (28) and Parthiv (25*)

India A 250 for 4 vs NZ A
Shaw (62), Agarwal (65)
Vihari 50*.Rahane still not read spin well bowled by Doug Bracewell who returned after 2 years.

Still 25 overs remains next two will be Gowtham and Shankar

At least Rahane is getting some time in the middle. He's still more likely than not going to flop on the Aus tour.

Yeah it is a really good India A side. Annoyingly, there don't appear to be any video highlights. Tickner very tidy so far - with his height maybe he'll make a good third seamer eventually. Bad FC record to date though.

Wonder if cricinfo are just guessing the ordering of that XI - it does look very strange, even with one opener injured at the eleventh hour.
tickner had a pretty good season last summer. before that he was pretty bad yeah.

his tour of the uae wasn't great iirc. jamieson was the stand out quick. kuggs better than rance tho.

That is a quick turn around !

Tough day at the office for NZ A but if anything it is about unearthing batting talent for the main side so it is a big day for the top 6 tomorrow.

Good start for Rutherford and yes, Young, opening the batting. Seven of Rutherford's nine boundaries have been square or behind square on the offside.

Tail really wagging for NZ A, Rance the second top scorer from number 10 with 68* currently. It's clearly pretty roady.

On - going match reminds me Ian smith 's 173 vs india when he batted at # 9

From 131 for 7 nz - Ian smith (173) Sir Hadlee (87) push the score to 391.
Martin S.and Smith add further 134 for 9th wicket.

Our #9 and # 10 also hits 50 with Azheruddin 's 192 we managed to draw that test.

I.smith's 173 came in under 240 minutes I doubt any keeper yet hit that many --bats at 9.

I wish tomorrow india declares after p.shaw hits 80 odd or more.

I wish NZ A win next 2 games easily as Virat push Rohit to play but over all weak batting as no rahane,no vihari,no shaw,no vijay,no parthiv,no Iyer ( captain of ODI vs NZ A) triple centurion Nair will be captain with many new faces

Rutherford 's debut 171 vs eng was history vs Anderson and Broad but than next 11 test innings he fails to consolidate his position

I think Yasir removed Henry Nicholas 171 ball 55 well played, lead 146

5 down

First time I've seen any of Phillips's batting in ages, he looks far more orthodox than his leg-side set up last time I had a look at him?

Young is playing such good cricket at the moment, I'm hoping he's very close to Black caps selection.

Was watching our bowlers work Shaw overtime today with the short stuff. Really made him very uncomfortable. If he has to progress in international cricket he needs to have a gun pull shot.

Another very nice bowled for Tickner. After the amble up to the crease he really has a very nice delivery stride and high arm.

Seems a similar prospect to Jamieson though with a little more spring in his delivery and probably a little more pace. Assume it's just been poor accuracy holding him back up to this point - 78 wickets at 43 even after a good 17/18 season, vs Jamieson's 56 wickets at 25.

Jamieson just looks a touch too gentle to be a consistent threat in internationals. Can't imagine he bowls much quicker than 130 flat out, and while that'll keep him in business on early season decks, he'll struggle just about everywhere else imo. Tickner looks like the better bet to me.
