Really hard to nail a team down for pallekelle I know Barstow has been averaging low and honestly I wouldn't pick him let him improve and focus on Odis I think the safest bet is batting pope I know he's a number 5 but he is a class player and it can't hurt to try him therecso essentially burns Jennings pope root stokes Buttler fakes curran Rashid leach Anderson (id would like to see stone in for leach/rashid)
Stone probably deserves a shot in the test side at some point this winter but there's no way he forces out one of the spinners after the last test IMO, especially Leach who is proving himself to be our most accurate one. If it weren't for his spells, I genuinely don't think Ali or Rashid would have been as effective because Ali would have to contain the runs and Rashid wouldn't be able to bowl short spells.

Yeah, i see Dobell noted Moeen went past John Emburey wickets wise. What a career he has carved out for himself. Streets ahead of JE with the bat as well.

For me it is Curran or Rashid who miss out for YJB depending on the conditions. Rash is so good against tailenders which we are **** against so that tilts it to him for me
IMHO, Sam Curran is only dropworthy because of his age. Which is wrong, I think. Would England really score that many more runs with YJB in and SC out (no matter who bats where)? Is that worth losing SC’s bowling?
I would never ever drop the huge talent that is Sam Curran!

Stokes if he does bat tomorrow will have batted 3-11 in the batting order. His stats from 8-11 are hilarious. Reminds me tenuously of this bloke I've played some cricket with - Always has an excuse when he gets out cheaply. 'Batting in wrong position', 'we couldn't win so I didn't try'

Ali too racking up the posns having batted 1-9.

Good Luck Roshan Silva or Aslanka
SL generally good under Lakmal (c)

Popular local spinner returns tomorrow whose 5 victims in test were
Rahane twice, Rahul,Dhawan,Hardik during last tour by India in srilanka

Broad need to wait to break test record of 433 (Herath)and 434(Nikhanj )
wkts in next test as no change in eng team

Me too. Player of the Series against India at 20. Played 6 Tests and England have never lost when he is in the team. Root should bowl him more, 11 overs at Galle.

I would like Buttler for # 3.

When I was in college David Steel was one of finest english batsman at #3
Eng must need to finds someone for Ashes in 2019

Without wishing to tempt providence and cause a rush of blood to the head, his recent performances suggest he has the patience

Joe Root has urged his team to keep attacking Sri Lanka's bowlers as England go in search of their first Test series win here for 17 years.

His batsmen came in for criticism at Galle last week after they reached lunch on the first day five wickets down. But England have maintained that the rate at which they scored their runs in that first session – 113 at 3.9 an over – put the Sri Lankans under pressure and made life easier for their lower-middle order.
---
I worry that Burns will not be able to play his natural game with those instructions. Root will find it hard to get to 50, never mind 100 and Stokes at 3 will be very confused. He recently has played cautiously - 62 (275), 30 (157), 23 (102). Hopefully that isn't going to change.

Root says it was made easier for the lower middle order - rubbish, they had to repair the damage of 103/5 by sensible batting.

I think they've gone for Stokes actually partly for this reason. i.e the ashes. Buttler can't bat 3 against Aus - he isn't good enough against a newish ball against pace. Stokes in theory could bat 3 against Aus

Tbf to Stokes I think his match where he played at 10 and 11 was that one in the UAE where he'd dislocated his shoulder whilst fielding first, so fair play to him for batting at all. His time at 8 & 9 in that India series was fantastically bad, though.

81.2 Stokes' miserable run continues, duck again! Ishant has five, again the short ball has done it, this was well outside off Stokes goes for the pull, hits low on the blade and swirls high towards midwicket, safely taken by Pujara, India tighten their grip on this one, Stokes' recent scores for England: 0,5,5,4,0,4,0,0,0,0
Moeen (and Stokes if he does bat 3) must surely have the record for most positions batted at?

David Steele was a breath of fresh air, but he was a little fortunate to get away with some of his pulls/hooks - I'd prefer it if Stokes showed the short stuff a bit more respect, at least early on in his innings
