It's a dark time to be an Australian cricket fan. Since the ATG generation retired they've begun to lose all around the world, have had disciplinary issues, players strikes, ball tampering and now this whole culture and ethics review. Must be so depressing to be a fan.

I hope we beat them to make them feel worse. ****s deserve to be miserable tbh
Define 'we'.

Just like in SA and England, India will win a test at some point on the tour. I'd be satisfied with that.

All these Aussie cowards sneakily gambhiring without admitting it. Own it with pride or don't do it.
If India can take a test off England and SA then they can take 2 off this Australia. All they need to do is get a draw somewhere else, and it is done.

There's no gambhiring here. I was around to watch Australia in the mid 80's. This batting is like that, except Greg Ritchie was better than all of the current mob Our bowling might look good on paper, but they'll break, and then what - use Mitch Marsh?

Yeah come on *****, Hong Kong isn't playing Australia. You don't get to say "we" for the 18th team on your favourite teams lost.

I wasn't around in the eighties but I'd say the test team is the weakest since the World Series days.

I agree Bambino.

The Indian bowling right now is the best that it's ever been. It's still not as good as Australia's but Australian batting is weaker than it had been since Hawke was prime minister.

I think the Indian batting will be better than ours but our bowling might make up the difference.

I think it'll be a good, close series. Unless they repeal Smith's ban in which case he might be able to get his batting average up to 70.
This is a fair comment. It all depends on whether the Aussie bowlers break during the series or not. If they do, Indians win. Otherwise, they ll wrap up the Indians.

I'm sure the Indians are aware this may be the chance of winning on Australian soil in ages. Apart from the obvious omissions, no GABBA Test.

I think Australia's best hope of winning the Ashes is a heavy defeat and hope CA has the balls to bone the Brown Nose Gnome before hand. However, only heavy defeat will precipitate this.

It does feel a little like the stars are aligning for India here. Queue the big 4 being unavailable and us playing an attack of Siddle, Neser and Doggett on Australian roads.

Australia's chance in this series are dependent on their bowlers being significantly better than India on Australian pitches - it will basically come down to whether Starc , Haze and Cummins stay fit for the series - If they do Australia win. As good as India's bowling was in SA and England it was mostly a case of there being lots of lateral movement available for the bowlers.

I think I read in the paper that Pattinson will playing Shield this week. I am forever hopeful that he does a Gillespie and stops breaking for a good spell of years.

Unless he'd drastically changed his bowling action so the stresses are going differently through his spine it'll be the same old.

IMO this is as good an opportunity as any for India to win in Australia.

During the 2014 tour of Australia India were able to score 400+ in each first innings. It didn't help them then because they couldn't get through Smith but IMO if they can do that this time around they'll probably win as there's no chance this Australian batting line up* can match that across a series.

*the batting line up our selectors are likely to pick which includes Shaun Marsh who averages 21 against India.
