Firebirds making a meal out of an easy to win situation. Since Jimmy got out lost 5 wickets for nothing. Bracewell finally cracks a hundred. Long time coming and the quality of the knock looks great.

#8 and #9 thinking they need to slog the remaining 20 runs, rather than pushing a single for the guy on 120* at the other end when there are still 4 overs to go ....

That is looking like a serious squad and hope they do play proper 11 a side cricket. India is guilty of turning serious games into training sessions. I'm guessing NZ A side will stay more or less the same barring one or two changes here and there.

Great to see Bracewell hit some form after a very poor 17/18 ... and he’s cracked a quick 50 today, too. Interesting that him, along with a few other Wellington batsmen are now sporting the Blundell bat pointing directly upwards backlift. Blundell only brought it in last season, I think? So it must be an Edgar thing. I wonder why, although it seems to be working for all who try it.

Just like the NZ ODI side, there're a lot of innings this season where a great platform of ~200 for 3 or 4 is butchered by the middle and lower order. There were a couple last round and Canterbury have done it again today, losing the 4th wicket at 204 before 243 all out.

Has the guy I erroneously described as "an un-contracted local club payer" a few pages back just scored 2 consecutive List A tons?

Maybe he saw your post.
maybe ......

If it's any consolation I liked a post by his former employer about him making his debut x years (5? or 7?) after first making a Firebirds training squad that appeared in my facebook feed a few weeks ago.

(I assume it's now his former employer)

Right before the end of the comical runout month, Sean Solia adds another just so we can be sure. I distinctly remember getting out like that was one of the reasons I decided to take a break from my own cricket this season too

On a similar note, having pointed out his awful bowling last round we'd better mention that Jimmy The Destroyer Neesham has 3/17 from 7 overs this week.

Solia's dismissal amusing - lbw should've been given anyway though.

Not even the most comical run out in the innings! Somerville gets hit by an on drive at the non strikers, deflects it straight to the bowler who could've run the striker out by half a pitch but goes non striker instead and is given out by an umpire who gives off all the signs of not really knowing if it's out and nervously raising his finger only slightly up. Somerville thinks he's in.

Just got a phone call from Devon Conway to thank me for buying a Firebirds super smash membership ... told him his batting is on fire atm ... if he goes on to play for NZ I think that extra bit of encouragement might just have made the difference.

I literally can't get the joke out of my head from I think Geg or Kippax about what does a Devon Con weigh?

Andrew Fletcher run seems to continue, at this rate he will score over 50% of firebirds runs. He is a clear example of how technique even at first class level is over rated. Watching him bat reminds me of Andrew Jones. He has uncanny knack of scoring runs and has done over the years in club/Provisional A side as well. He's going nicely at the moment batting on 36.

No runs for Nofal or Conway in this game but a good opportunity for Neesham to bat a bit longer.

Not great to see Finn Allen getting a duck. He's probably best suited to play in the middle order. Hope this doesn't ruffle the young gun.
