Clarkson's boundaries back to really looking potent and high quality, with the game's required tempo and equation made nice and simple for him.

A bitter one for Bowes on 96. Thought his short ball issues would appear like McClure's on an Auckland pitch, but did well.

Out of contract and also injured. I don't think firebirds will go back to him or any of the players that have lost the contract in the last few years. There is no need to, they are winning mostly. Best time to keep giving the young ones chances and hope they go well in the long run.

Not great to see McLure getting hit in the head. He has had those hits few times now. Very good quality player but if you are found out against short balls they keep bowling those.

So the latest Saffer in New Zealand cricket is former SA u19 batsmen Dean Foxcroft. Went to same school as current internationals Theunis de Bruyn , Heinrich Klassen & Rassie van der Dussen (Hoerskool Menlopark).

Would have played quite a lot of cricket with and against Ludick. Wouldn't surprise me if they close mates like Nofal/Conway. Any idea how Travis Muller is getting on down in Wellington?

Aaaaah beautiful sight that.

He surprised in franchise cricket over here with his chances. Got a few big-wicket hauls. I know his strength was being able to swing the ball (conventional & reverse) but of course unlikely Nofal/Conway will be dropped. I see they all in the same friendship group.

It feels weird looking for the next cabs off the rank trying to push with domestic runs not being there with the A tour on the go obviously. Really pleased to see Ravindra score some runs.

Andrew Fletcher run seems to continue, at this rate he will score over 50% of firebirds runs. He is a clear example of how technique even at first class level is over rated. Watching him bat reminds me of Andrew Jones. He has uncanny knack of scoring runs and has done over the years in club/Provisional A side as well. He's going nicely at the moment batting on 36.

No runs for Nofal or Conway in this game but a good opportunity for Neesham to bat a bit longer.

Not great to see Finn Allen getting a duck. He's probably best suited to play in the middle order. Hope this doesn't ruffle the young gun.

I can't help but feel Auckland are dicking Finn around. He's not an opener. Play him in his spot or let him wait for his chance.

Big Mitch looks like he's firing cannons again, sconned McClure and absolutely had Neesham on toast last week as well - jumping, fending like he was producing 150km rockets.

Taita struggled with him and didn't renew his contract with the club. Last heard he's playing in Otago this year.

Both Nofal and Conway now considered locals as they've signed the pact with NZ cricket. If Wellington wanted they can get an overseas play still.

I think the total number of ineligibles in any XI can't surpass two, whichever way you slice it (except the T20 comp). This was in 2017/18 playing conditions, haven't seen the new one.

1.5 For the purpose of the clauses 1.6 and 1.7 below, Overseas Players and New
Zealand Qualifying Players shall be deemed to be “Ineligible Players"

Association may select a maximum of one (1) Overseas Player and/or a

Oh right, they've now done away with allowing Stuart Meaker-type selections in FC and List A entirely, unless you claim exceptional circumstances -

1.5 For the purpose of the Rules 1.6 and 1.7 below, Overseas Players and New

shall make a written request to NZC (providing a copy to the CPA) setting out
the reasons they wish to select an Overseas Player.

1.7 For each Men’s BKSS match, each Major Association may select a maximum
of two (2) Overseas Players and/or a maximum of two (2) New Zealand
Qualifying Players in its final playing XI, provided that the total number of

Lots of runs all around, Firebirds should have got to 300 but middle order didn't go all that well. Otago on their way to 300+ and ND 300+ thanks to that last over of Ludick. It's going to take some character for the lad to come back after that pounding.
