DoG's Top 100 Test Bowlers Countdown Thread 100-1

No.30

Ravi Jadeja (India) 785

Overall Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 21.45 (23.50) 60.37 (59.16) 5.26 (rank 17)

Quality Opposition Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 19.88 58.21 6.13 (rank 5)
Never realised that his average and strike rate against quality opposition is actually better than his overall average and strike rate.
I suppose I must sheepishly admit that I had been severely underrating him as a bowler.

This is exactly why all cricket on the subcontinent should be erased from the record books. What's the point of calling it cricket if the ball doesn't bounce past knee height.

Incidentally, this is exactly why the icc ranking system punishes you for not playing tests.

Jadeja has incredible stats but is ridiculously conditions dependent. I think he's a worthwhile candidate for this list but obviously I'd have him lower.

Jadeja is a highly under-rated cricketer. His method of darting the ball in may not be effective in non asian tracks, however he is extremely accurate and penetrative when the conditions suit him. Also a gun fielder and good lower order batsman. Could end up with ATG figures when he retires and will be an indian great for sure.

Are Australians the gold medalist in hypocrisy?
Every cricket fan is, to a fair extent, a gold medallist in hypocrisy.
We use statistics, cherry picked statistics at that, as a crutch when it supports our prejudice; and we dismiss unpalatable statistics as illegitimate.

The list became irrelevant as soon as Ryan Harris made the list. Are Australians the gold medalist in hypocrisy ? They idolize Dennis lillee, Greg chapell , Ryan harris and crib about other country's player away record. None of Harris, Chappell and Lillee have even played 5 test in Asia.
Lol.

Good luck them. Why the **** would they want to? That joint with the fort in SL looks quite appealing, and the place with the big hill in the background in India, but let's be honest, if you had a choice you wouldn't go anywhere else to play a game there if you had a choice.

Jadeja is better than DKL in batting(everywhere), fielding (everywhere) and bowling ( in a non ashes match).

It's easy to extrapolate and conclude that Jadeja would have been better in Ashes too. Not his fault that he hasn't got the chance.

Stop playing the victim. Not everything is about nationality.

Why would you bring PEWS into this ffs? Very poor form.

What will happen if Andersen ranks ahead of Lillee? I should keep a bucket of popcorn ready just in case.

The rank stupidity here is that Jadeja isn't a patch on Anderson as a bowler, let alone Lillee.

Nah Jadeja is and always has been underrated, especially on here, as I was saying in the England tour thread when he was selected. Predicted that he'd be dangerous with the ball and make a valuable 70+ score ftr

Jadeja has incredible stats but is ridiculously conditions dependent
Is he any more conditions-dependent than Anderson is though?

Please show me your post where you criticized Ryan Harris being on this list. Or accept that it is definitely about nationality.

And ftr I will accept that Jadeja and Ashwin shouldn't be ranked that high.

Nah he's a serviceable bowler at best and probably more reliant on conditions than even Anderson. I admire DoG's dedication and hard work, but ranking this spud 30 on the atg bowling list is a glitch in the Matrix.
