Oh. I didn't know. I was busy plucking some chickens this afternoon.

Hetmeyer is having an initiation. Bold claims made by that "ranter"

I still think Hetmyer has a fair bit to work with. He's far from the finished product though and given it's the West Indies I have doubts he'll ever be one.

The most honest assessment thus far.

Look at Prithvi and Hetmyer. Both are naturally aggressive...but freaking Prithvi takes it to another level. That kid is the real deal. Hetmyer has a lot to learn.

My biggest disappointment from those tests is that we've not learnt anything.

We bowled India out pretty cheaply even without Kemar Roach. I knew our pacers could cause them trouble. That is clearly a strength of this team. Jason Holder is turning into an amazing test cricketer.

Bishoo and Warrican were extremely disappointing and offered neither real control or threat in conditions that suited them. I really think we should be on the lookout for a new spinner.

The batting was diabolical but apart from dropping Kieron Powell and adding Darren Bravo there's not much we can do but let the youngsters develop. It didn't help that our rock Kraigg Brathwaite had a rare shocker of a series.

Thanks to our pacers we are going to be able to win some test matches at home and on the odd occasion away (Pakistan, England are recent examples). But until we can put runs on the board more consistently we won't be able to compete with the top sides. That will be the number 1 task for the new coach.

Thing is if Powell is the one who bravo replaces then who will open?
6 batsman should be
Braithwaite bravo hope chase hetmyer ambris. But only Braithwaite can open

is cornwall still considered unselectable due to his weight?
Seemingly so though we haven't heard anything official position for a while. He's having another excellent list a tournament so should really be selected on merit.

Yeah it's really tricky. They're going to have to see who has a good FC tournament and give a specialist opener a go. That would be John Campbell or Chanderpaul Hemraj in all likelihood, or keacy Carty as an outside bet. None of them have made a real case for selection yet.

Personally I'd bring in Bravo for either Hetmeyer or Ambris and have them as capable back up.

The West Indies immediately need at least one - ideally a couple - of competent spin bowlers.
The pitches in Bangladesh are going to be decidedly biased in favour of spin; much more so than what they had encountered in India.

Ideally you'd want a proper opener but of you haven't got one who would do any better than smith or Powell then they might have to shoehorn one of the others. Would ambris be the most likely to move up.
How would you feel about
Braithwaite
Ambris
Bravo
Hope
Hetmyer
Chase

Couldn't agree more. I really want Cornwall in the team as he would really balance our batting line up.

I could cope with that. Ambris has opened at FC level on a number of occasions. I hope he gets a fair go at it in the middle order, but failing that you've identified a reasonable option there.

So onto the ODIs now, our worst format. Yay!

Still, the selectors have finally realised that selecting the same side over and over again and getting thrashed doesn't work. So we do actually have some new players to watch who have some of the skills required to succeed at ODIs if not the stats yet.

Chanderpaul Hemraj is an attacking opener with a decent array of shots. He had an excellent a tour of England and blitzed our list A tournament.

Fabian Allen is a middle order batsman with attractive shots. Unlike most of our batsmen, he doesn't use up dot balls and is busy at the crease. He's an awesome fielder with typical Jamaican foot speed.

Oshane Thomas is an express pacer with the ability to swing the new ball and bowl aggressive short balls. He often gets excellent players out. There are doubts about his fitness and he doesn't have a lot of list A experience but he certainly has skills.

Ashwin, Herath, Philander and so many others. England not selecting Samit for the same reason is also stupid.
There's regular fat and morbidly obese. The guys you mentioned are the former, Cornwall is the latter. Different circumstances (though I agree not selecting him for that reason is kinda dumb)

Patel wasn't selected for England because he was ****, not because he's too fat.

Evin Lewis has pulled out of the tour for personal reasons, so the idiots have called up Kieron Powell for the ODIs. Is there no end to our suffering?

Nicholas Pooran is replacing Lewis for the T20s which will be fun at least.

Obed Mcoy has also replaced Alzari Joseph for both ODIs and T20s as they're wrapping Joseph in cotton wool.

I wouldn't mind seeing Sherfane Ritherford opening the batting in ODIs
Me neither, though hopefully he scores a list A hundred or two first. I also really want to see Pooran play ODIs, he's such a natural.

At least the selectors are actually trying something new now.
