I'm no great batsman, but when you face someone who makes you doubt whether to go front or back it doesn't matter what speed they bowl at. Abbas is really good at bowling that line and length. No player in the last 100 years has taken more wickets at a better average than Abbas right now. Pretty insane considering he was thought of as a "conditions bowler" and yet he's done this while playing 6 of his 9 Tests in UAE and West Indies.
They really wouldn't. Like it or not, both Marsh brothers are amongst the top 6 batsmen we've sent over.I know it’s inconceivable to our selectors, but they may have to drop a Marsh brother?
Actually, looking at it in writing I can’t see them doing it.
He's quickly making a case to follow in Philander's footsteps as that guy that has great stats that nobody rates because reasons.I'm no great batsman, but when you face someone who makes you doubt whether to go front or back it doesn't matter what speed they bowl at. If he ever goes to Adelaide and falls sick with temporary manflu at the sight of a great cricket pitch, this may come to pass. He's quickly making a case to follow in Philander's footsteps as that guy that has great stats that nobody rates because reasons.
He's a natural number 7. He'd be considered alright if we had Gilchrist to bat above him.I was saying at work today, 'yeah but Marsh is seen as a talent so you can understand why he makes the team'. But this is BS.
Mitch Marsh just isnt talented. I mean maybe if we were playing on a rolled out astro turf he would boss opponents, but the moment the situation is tough, youd probably back Pat Cummins to perform over him.
But lineage.
Nah man, ever since the redesign and the advent of day night tests, Adelaide has been one of the better wickets for bowlers in Australia. The Gabba/MCG/SCG are now the worst roads, with the WACA being worse than all of them 50% of the time.If he ever goes to Adelaide and falls sick with temporary manflu at the sight of a great cricket pitch, this may come to pass.
Yeah Patterson really should be looked at as that kind of guy. He makes a lot of starts but fails to go on in first class cricket. The trouble is there's no-one in the lineup that can be relied upon to halt a collapse. And I can't really think of anyone who can do it that isn't in the side either. In that sense using the whole "how often does he get a start" rule is actually a decent one....it's just a matter of lacking the tools for it.
It still is the wrong lineup though when you leave two probable Test-class players out of the team as well as two others who I have doubts over but deserved chances.
