Looking at who's coming through now I'm expecting Davidson soon, part of the low-career points lot.
How is points per innings calculated?No-one got it.
No.75
Keith Miller (Australia) 692
Quality Points: 640
Career Points: 52
Career: 1946-1956
Wickets: 170
Gold Performances: 1
7/60 vs. England at Brisbane 1946 (16.88)
Silver Performances: 6
Bronze Performances: 0
Overall Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 23.48 (22.98) 55.01 (61.54) 3.50
50 Innings Peak Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings (1948-1955): 21.37 55.40 3.53
Non-Home Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 25.44 57.81 3.97
Quality Opposition Average/Strike-Rate/Points Per Innings: 23.35 60.42 3.67
Miller is a fine example of how my system works. Even though he has a great set of averages, his points per innings across the board is low compared to other bowlers in the top 100. In the top 100, his overall PPI ranks at no.99, just ahead of Chaminda Vaas.
A bowler's points for overall, peak, non-home, and quality opposition are calculated as ((((average*4)+(strike-rate*1))*2)+(points per innings*1))/3
These ratios can of course be looked at and revised in the future.
You'd hope so. Am actually sad to see him make the list, but then again I despise the ****.Lee ranked lower than Hoggard?
Ditto. Hoggard a better bowler imoYou'd hope so. Am actually sad to see him make the list, but then again I despise the ****.
such a risky betI bet one of Hadlee, Murali, Barnes or McGrath would most likely end up #1.
I hope so, particularly for Walsh. I wonder how close Walsh and Ambrose are in the countdownI think Walsh and Kumble are going to be ranked much higher than where CW typically puts them.
Every performance of a bowler (their innings analysis) is given a rating based on opposition, match conditions, result, etc. The points per innings is simply the average of all of the performances across the bowler's career. I think it gives a better indication of a bowler's quality than simply wickets per innings. See my top 100 test batting and bowling performances thread. How is points per innings calculated?
Well I did omit Marshall. Most likely it will be Hadlee or Murali.such a risky bet
This is always an interesting debate but for a spinner id lean towards the 0&6 wickets over 3&3.So inconsistency is highly rewarded. Better to take 0-100 + 6-100 in a match vs 3-100 + 3-100? Is that correct?
You also have to ask the question: which match will be better remembered? This is always an interesting debate but for a spinner id lean towards the 0&6 wickets over 3&3.
I just have this mindset that the 0/100 is keeping the runs down in the first innings and the 6/100 spins his side to victory.
As he should.Excellent. Jimmy is going to come in higher than Gillespie. Top job DOG.
How do you know Jimmeh made the list?Excellent. Jimmy is going to come in higher than Gillespie. Top job DOG.
