On the bright side Max Holden scored his first century (I think) this round & Ethan Bamber continues to look at home.

Kent are promoted from division 2. Their bowling is a bit ****. Matt Henry has performed minor miracles. Zak Crawley just scored his first century and with Denly, Bell-Drummond, Dickson, Kuhn, Billings the batting looks ok but in the top division there will be tougher challenges.
Very much agreed. Seeing somebody like Darren Stevens run through sides is just embarrassing

More underhand tactics being used by Somerset. Covers conveniently blown off the wicket in the night and the wicket deemed unfit as a result. Very village.

:D Ha exactly. Into his 40s now with little medium-puffs. I think it says much about the quality of batting and pitches in division 2. Outside of the teams star players there really is poor depth not taking into account Kolpaks.

If Kent really want compete they will have to question players like Stevens.

I read somewhere by 2020 they want 10 div 1 teams with only 1 getting releagted. I don't think a lot will like it.

Clarke confirmed to Notts. Joins Duckett, Slater, and Chappell.

There's Coughlin too who signed last year but has barely played due to injury

Surrey Essex on the tv today. Kinda pointless - Nothing to play for. Should have at least shown Warwickshire Kent in div 2 who are on the same points and going for the Div 2 tittle- or a game earlier in the season when there was more to play for.

Liking the Marcus North move, always struck me as a good thinker of the game and strong links to the North East.

Surrey giving themselves a bit more of a challenge this week.

DBD dropped by Kent. I doubt he's moving given they are going up.

Good to see Saqib Mahmood getting a game. Could have been him going to SL instead of Stone in the ODI squad if not for injury.

You stole my rant. Somewhat backfired on them though.

I reckon a lancs fan or two will just about be checking out the table again. It's a massive longshot to avoid relegation but so far today they've kept their chances alive.

Nott with only 3 wicket after bowling 68 overs.
Lancs bowling Hampshire out for 187. Need to bat well now and get 350, preferably 400.

Lancs win with full points and Notts would need 5 points from their game.

Will Rhodes has had a good year. 4 hundreds opening the batting for Warwickshire in div 2, avg 46, and nearly 1000 runs. Yorkshire probably wouldn't mind him back right now. Warwickshire have done well with their rejuvenation of the playing staff.

Stuart Law quits West Indies job to take over at Middlesex. https://www.middlesexccc.com/news/2018/09/stuart-law-appointed-as-middlesex-head-coach.

Looks bleaker for lancs again with the wickets at the end of the day, although not quite dead yet.

Very odd team selection from Lanky - almost seems like they didn't think they had a chance otherwise surely Croft a better bet at three than a debutant

Why is Danny Welbeck your picture by the way?

Some players today showing the selectors how wrong they were.

Woakes a proven failure out of England yet Porter has been the best quick in England for a while now. Maybe similar but irrelevant.

Hildreth has warranted an England call up now and would have been perfect at 3 or 4. As it happens Pope is in who isn’t a 3, 4 or 5 when England have a few people to bat 6 or 7.. maybe if Root stops having a strop and tantrum about batting somewhere for the team and not himself.

Mitchell having another good season vs Jennings who is just a proven failure.

It’s a cricketing tragedy that Porter and Hildreth haven’t played a test (and that Jennings is in the squad).
