Pandey doesn't need to bowl to break into this XI. There are two keepers (one part time) selected as middle order batsmen lol.

And if you're talking first XI, I don't think he can make it there either. He's a top order player and pretty poor batting anywhere below 4 imo.

First XI. But yea actually he probably doesn't get in even if he does bowl - he's not going to replace Kedar/Pandya, and wouldn't even be a good backup to them since he'd have to bat out of position at 6/7. India aren't going to move MSD from 5 to accommodate another top order batsman either, so really he just need to convince the selectors that he's the best option to bat at 4, which I think he is, but what I think doesn't matter.

Why did they pick a team with a tail starting at 6? and 6 specialist bowlers? Some weird team selections lately. Seems to be a trend in world cricket lately to go in with as many bowlers as you can and screw batting deep.
