Warne was the best player of spin in the history of the game; certainly when enhanced with drugs, and possibly even without drugs.
If Murali had bowled all the the overs that he had bowled at Warne and no one else, he would have ended up with a tally of 80 wickets @442.36.

I would say otherwise and Murali would have ended up with 1000+ wickets and averaged somewhere 17-18

75+ 5 wicket hauls

would have absolutely decimated fragile English batting lineups, and moreover Australia would have managed to win every Ashes test had Murali been there over Warnie.

Lara in that video also says what ***** was saying earlier about Murali's ability to bowl unplayable deliveries and testing technique vs. Warne's ability to play mental game. That's a fair take on their respective uniqueness and styles.

Australia lost in 2005 vs the English, for the only time in Warne's career. In that series he took 40 wickets and hit 250 runs. Would Murali really have made a difference?

I think Michael Clarke was a very good player of spin, his footwork made it extremely difficult for the spinners to settle down. Clarke and Sehwag are pretty much up there when it comes to playing spin IMO.

If only he got more matches, and had Sri Lanka gotten its test status earlier.

Sri Lanka got its test status in 1982. Took only 9 years to produce the World's best Test bowler and only 14 years to win a WC 8-)

Sri Lanka drew the 06 (three match) series 1-1.

This was only SLs second multiple test tour to England. They started getting multiple tests after 1998 performance. Therefore they got a three test match series in 2002

I understand you're massively insecure because you have tied your entire self esteem and self worth into the success of your country's failing cricket team, and that to make yourself feel the slightest bit good about yourself you need to go around the internet bringing up the handful of times in the last decade they've been remotely competitive, but you need to realise that none of us give a **** about who they beat and when, because it's not relevant to the discussion at hand.

I also understand that you think telling people about all the times their team lost is some big 'gotcha' moment, but what you fail to grasp is that the rest of us don't lock ourselves in our rooms to cry ourselves to sleep into our pillows after our teams lose, sobbing about Thisara Perera bowling yet another over full of **** full tosses in yet another ODI loss to India, to only then dream of a day where we actually qualify for the finals of the Nidahas trophy instead of having to watch superior teams prance about on our home turf. Trust me, the rest of us have moved on, and we're more interested in discussing what made Warne and Murali special (and to a lesser extent, who the best batsman against spin ever was) than we are about the one time in 1987 a Sri Lankan School Boys team narrowly beat out a Harrow's School 3rd XI in some tour game.
