*Official* India Tour of England 2018

Great batsman. For a long time, he was hailed as the only one possible to overtake Tendulkar's records which is a great thing. Good luck to him.
It was always a ridiculous suggestion, even at Cook's peak. He'd have had to keep his peak for a long, long time to overtake Sachin's test records. Bear in mind even Sachin slowed down towards the end.

To put it into perspective, Kohli will likely end up being considered a better batsman than Cook, perhaps matching Tendulkar or a rung below. He won't come close to Sachin's test records.

Smith might have done though, it if he wasn't such an idiot. But even then a lot of things have to go right for a long, long period of time for something like that to happen.

Cook in that tour of India in 2012 was such a beast. Great career.

Ashwin made such a promising start to this series. I do think he is carrying an injury. They really need to be open about his injury status and not have selected him if he was still not 100%. Jadeja on that pitch with the rough outside the left handers off stump could have been deadly.
Every time he bowls poorly people say he’s injured, but it’s never confirmed. Maybe he just isn’t as good as everyone makes him out to be.

Yeah, Tendulkar's longevity is just so difficult to emulate. I mean, it feels like Smith and Kohli's purple patches have lasted forever yet they'd have to keep up these standards for close to a 100 more Tests to match Sachin.

If they kept their current purple patches going for another 100 tests they’d be considered better than him wouldn’t they?

No people don't do that. There has been talk about a hip injury since the third test. Every time he bowls well people say the pitch helped him. This pitch surely helped spinners, maybe there was actually something wrong.

He’s an improvement on Harbhajan, personally. But not by much. One of the better spinners going around now, of course, but no genius.

He complicates his own bowling sometimes, all he had to do was to bowl at slower speeds and land all 6 deliveries on the rough patch, not complex at all for someone who's taken 300+ test wickets.

Moeen Ali's spell pretty much sealed the fact that we are among worst players of spin in the world now. Maybe we will have to fear Lyon more than Starc/Hazlewood later this year.

Yeah. He didn't even need to slow it down all that mich if he didn't want to. At the very least pitch the ball in the right areas instead of giving them short filth or a freebie on middle and leg every 2 balls.

If he was Pakistani there'd be calls of fixing.

He just isn’t as good as everyone makes him out to be. He's an archetypal ATVG.

I now you're trying to be funny but this getting a bit cringeworthy now tbh
I have never blocked anyone on CW and haven't even checked on how to enable that option. But for some reason, Borges might be the first one as there is no contribution in any of his posts apart from "ATVG trolling". Atleast make the trolling interesting.

Even if he's carrying an injury, the reason he bowled like crap is because he lacks patience and his brain is way smaller than anyone thought. You don't try three variations an over just because you aren't 100% fit, you do that if you're a dumb bowler. He has no excuse and should be ashamed he was out bowled comprehensively by a guy who averages 40 with the ball.

This. You need to build pressure. The best spinners used the changes as a surprise option.

Shane Warne (indisputable greatest spinner of all time as per cricket web) completely cut out the wrong-un and flipper for most of his career and was a better bower for it.

He bowled for a long time with session breaks in between. Why didn't Kohli, or at least Shastri (who used to be a spin bowler), ask him to cut out the nonsense?

Yes, you can almost forgive a fast bowler spraying it all over because there's serious physical effort and rhythm involved. Not saying there isn't in bowling spin but this mother****er's problems were between the ears. Honestly can't stand the sight of his stuttering ****** run-up anymore. BANISH.

Heh yeah, right at the sight of his bowling action for the first ball he delivered in 3rd innings I had an intuition he is going to spray like he is peeing. Exactly what happened for 35 overs.

the usual underrating moeen going on here.

now yes, he is borderline cannon fodder away from england. but the bloke now has 91 @ 31 in england. this indian lineup isn't the first team he's made mincemeat of in his home country.
