The pitch is doing very little. Even with Ashwin bowling trash, so India surely have a chance. Unless the lead goes past 300 India are in with a 30% at least.
Ashwin got some to bounce and spin sharply when he slowled it down and bowled full. I think there is enough in this pitch for Moeen to wreck us. Plus the ball has been swinging all Test.

I am not too apprehensive about the bowling of Moeen Ali; test batsmen should be able to cope with it, without too much distress.
Though I admit I said the same thing before the first innings, and the ATVG then proceeded to bag oodles of wickets.
It was truly dire batting, rather than a Murali-like spell of breath taking spin wizardy.

He's not wrong. Across their history, India have only successfully chased a score over 200 overseas 3 times in 61 attempts.

We're basically done for.
it is not just about the history. Pitch is biggest thing. It is not an easy pitch to bat on at all. If the pitch was like in the last test, say, I could have had some hope.

What's wrong in that? India does have the best all conditions batting, though it's still no patch on the batters of last decade. Bowling is probably the 2nd or 3rd best in all conditions, though yet to be tested in Aus or UAE, the latter isn't such a big test as the former.

It isn't as if Kohli's leading the number 8 ranked team in the world, like in the 90's, so the results are consistently disappointing given that some of the (close) losses were down to inadequate planning (totally avoidable) or dropped catches (also avoidable) & selection blunders. That is not to say that SA, Eng haven't won the key moments ~ they have decisively, but India didn't take advantage of multiple break points to seal the set (innings) throughout these games.

Reminds me of Nadal vs Djokovic in that 2011/12 season, especially that Aus Open final.

I love how people think India still has a chance.
Not an unreasonable view, is it. Even allowing for English fans' natural pessimism it's pretty obvious that there's enough talent in this Indian side to potentially chase this down. Evens sounds about right to me.

They are the nation that gave us gambhiring of course, but yes absolutely ludicrous to suggest a team with Kohli in it is out of any match

Sorry, are you saying the current England middle order is arguably the best of all time?
Possibly in an alternate universe? Where England have won 5 CWCs straight & have another 6 Jules Rimet to boot ?

Yes, if the pacers can get the last two wickets really quickly without Curran doing more Curran things, India have a shot. Its the 4th innings and its turning but Pujara and Kohli are two of the very best in these kind of conditions.

No.
