*Official* India Tour of England 2018

Reckon India will need a good contribution from their openers and their seemingly non-existent lower order. England did enough today, India should have batted better and enjoyed good conditions today. There was definitely 400-450 in this pitch especially with Jimmy bowling not so well. England seem to do well with the luck elements like the toss in recent times and they do enough to win at home, although away they get smashed. At least sides that come to England compete. But yeah, fully expect England to win tomorrow and everything will be hunky dory.

Would love to see a change to the toss. Have a toss on test matches 1, 3 and 5 and let the side in between those games who didn't win the toss make their call. Generally makes it a bit fairer and we get a much better view of who is the better side. India would have smashed them 2nd game, and here they'd have the toss too and would probably be getting ready for another win. England are a very flawed side at the minute and are being carried by the fact that their captain seems to be able to win the toss whenever he likes. In competitive sport the toss in cricket impacts your win % immensely, it's not right.

Sam Curran I accept you are good but enough already. Was such a frustrating day to watch Ashwin waste away the pacers' good work. Hindsight 20/20 and all but would have loved having Jadeja in his place if Ashwin was not a 100%. The fool in me is still hoping for some magic and will be waking up at 3 AM again to watch. :(

How rosy was it when Bairstow played that beautiful drive just after lunch. If only the umpire had give Root LBW next ball. I have watched every ball of this test waking up at 3AM and I did not sign up for a heart break FFS

Was talking about this series only. And while they have outperformed India's lower order, hard as that is, my point was they hadn't done so in a decisive manner. Until now.
Eh, dunno about that. Nearly all of England's decisive runs in the series have come from their lower/middle order. Roots 80 in the 1st test is the only significant score out of our top order I can think of.

Middle order is probably best in the world, debatably even the best ever. But that top order… it's just so weird.

Sorry, who's delusional enough to think we have a chance? Lightning can strike thrice at a place, but I don't see this India team, under Kohli, chasing anything above 150 without a boatload of luck.
That is probably true but people probably said the same about WI last year as well . And WI are ten times worse than India. So imo as long time the lead is kept under 300 then 50:50

Even if England doesn’t score anything, it’s 90/10 in their favor IMO. Would be surprised if India doesn’t loose by at least 80 runs.

200+ is a lot to chase in 4th inning for a team where only one batsman has shown the consistency. You can’t expect others to start contributing out of the blue.

India still right in this test ffs. If they roll these last 2 wickets early for around 20 odd runs I'd say they are in front.........England desperately need another 70+ here I think.

This is way off the mark, sorry.

At best one would say it's even if we're chasing 230.

At the moment the betting odds accurately reflect reality.

Bet365 has Eng 1.57 and India 2.40..........India take these 2 wickets in the first half hour (which is reasonably likely) and you watch those odds swing around or at least come back to evens.

This is bs from Ash. Probably lied about his fitness to keep his spot. His delivery stride is not the same and he's clearly not able to put the same effort in because of the hip. Should have been dropped.

Wonder who the spinner is going to be for the fifth test now, not that the series will be alive, mind.

Great odds to get some money on england right there.

No. I think England already have enough on the board.

I suppose Kohli didn't have too much of a choice regarding bowling Ashwin for long periods; if it was not Ashwin, it would have been Pandya who had to make up the required ninety overs. Though, giving the new ball to Ashwin was quite inane.
