Those aren't really terrible averages - and the issue is that the stats only tell part of the story. Usually, when he gets a score, he looks set, has a decent score on board (30-40 something) and then throws away his wicket with very stupid shots/shot selection (see also a game earlier in this series).

See also this innings - he's a decent batsman with decent technique, he could definitely have hung around and gotten a useful score. Tried to reverse sweep Moen early on and got himself out.
24 or 25 is a terrible avg for an AR coming lower down the order, against the older ball. What's worse is the argument given in favor of RA, wrt RJ, is that his batting is better ~ stats will unquestionably tell you that it's not the case!

Definitely & this is where I question his attitude, Jadeja for all his deficiencies gives it 110% with bat, bowl & on the field. I don't see that with Ashwin, rarely if ever.

Ashwin trying way too much there
Why doesn't Ashwin take his batting seriously? He looks solid for 10 minutes then does something ridiculously unnecessary.

But when conditions are tough and he actually has to apply himself, he fatigues and that's when he plays dumb shots and gets overly funky with his bowling.
All classic textbook symptoms of the Chronic Idiopathic ATVG Syndrome.

Khaleel Ahmed is an interesting one. Don't see much else wrong with the other selections. Maybe we could have gone with someone else in play with Rayudu, but can't think of anyone obvious.

Glad to see Jadhav back.

The ones featuring in the test series shouldn't have played the Asia Cup, except Jadeja & the two Yadavs - all of who seemed to have ticked the TM. Playing KL in a team led by Sharma is a massive conflict of interest, he'll never allow KL to be a viable threat. Playing TTFs like Rayudu or MSD is just so :@

Rohit - Dhawan- Kohli's position in the team is rock solid, and it's for good reason regardless of what fans think. No one is threatening their positions.

Rohit's a proven dud in conditions that aid seam or swing, that's why he is also not in the test team. Dhawan's the best opener in LO, barring his infrequent brainfades. Kohli is on his way to become a top 5 ODI bat ever, but his chasing powers have waned in recent, in large part due to carrying duds like Dhoni.

As for no one challenging their positing, WTH has Kohli not tried any replacements for some of these players since 2016? That's on him, totally, & the reason why our WC 2019 chances are slim, very.

As Moeen bowled like Ashwin normally does yesterday I'm hoping Ravi will return the compliment and bowl like Moeen did last winter today
