I think with 12,000 test runs to his name it would be hard to not class Cook as ATVG too.

Also, Root still has potential to end up ATVG if he can convert his fifties in future. And a few can potentially end up in their individual countries' ATVG like Broad, Pujara, Bumrah, Stokes etc.

Pujara yes, but not Bumrah. He's nowhere close to being India's best limited overs bowler (that goes to Shami and Bhuvi), or Test (Bhuvi/Umesh/Shami).

He has just started and I said potentially. He has started strongly and if he can do half as good as he has done so far, he can end sub 30 atleast which is great for an Indian pace bowler.

We badly need decent batting conditions and to win the toss. Anything else and England clear favourites imo.

But India repeatedly wins away games in bowling friendly conditions. The kind of conditions that make even Pandya a threatening bowler.

Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to watch Cook get a ton (plus) he has been a great ambassador for the sport but England really need to think about a replacement and pretty quick, I know they have tried but how hard have those selectors been looking... What is wrong with the England top order... ? I just feel Cook is just prone to silly errors.

Just having the confidence in his partners to stick around though... If an Englishman can stick around then maybe we can see a competitive batting display but if it's a procession rhen no one will have the confidence to hang around.

Taking into account the recent damp weather, the venue and the opponents then, a good team for the fourth Test would be: Cook, Vince, Root, Stokes, Pope, Buttler (wk), Moeen, Curran, Woakes, Broad, Anderson. If Bairstow is fit to bat, he plays instead of Pope. Adil Rashid is on hand if the pitch and weather suddenly turn subcontinental.

I like this side a lot. I had the same one with 5,6 and 7 in a different order, to be honest they are interchangeable. I especially like the idea of Stokes at 4.
