Rose Bowl? What are the tickets for that like? It is even more ''in the middle of nowhere'' than Chester-le. Championship starts tomorrow so I'll only catch the highlights for this test.

I used to live in Hampshire mate......about 45 mins away.

Its an hour and a half by train from London ffs........how is it the middle of nowhere like Durham?
To get to Rod Bransgrove's gaffe from Southampton it is a 40 mins bus ride. There is a reason why Hampshire have some of the worst county attendances on the circuit.

Edit

Durham's wouldn't be ''in the middle of nowhere'' if it was actually in Durham (City), one of the mean commuting cities on the eastern line. As it happens it is in Chester-le-Street.

If Durham played in Durham City, Sunderland or Newcastle (yes, the latter isn't County Durham but then Warwickshire don't play in Warwickshire) it would be very easy to get to.

Another problem with Chester-le is, once you are in Chester-le, it is still a 15-20 mins hike to the venue from the town centre!

The fascinating thing about these two sides is that both are choke full of ATVGs; players who can blow hot and cold.
Other than Root and Kohli in batting, and Anderson in bowling, there is no one who can be said to be a really a consistent performer over a period of time.

Fortunately for India, these days, Ishant doesn't ATVG as much as he used to in the past. Thank heavens for small mercies.

In fact I have just remembered. There isn't even a train station in West End. How do you propose getting from London to West End?

For large chunks of his career Ishant would have been a certain starter for an all time barely even first class standard XI. ATBEFCS

None of the players taking part in this series are ATVGs. Anderson is close, Kohli will probably be an ATG.

edit: maybe Ashwin
