Australian bowlers have an relatively easier time with OS batsmen who may not be used to our wickets whereas OS spinners are dealing with local players who have given bowlers like Warne a hard time. I'd reckon its still a hard place for home grown spinners to bowl. Just not as comparatively difficult as it is for touring spinners. Of course the argument doesn't account for guys like Doherty.Don't buy the "Oz is a difficult place for home grown spinners to bowl" argument at all.
I'm curious, in what way?Of course the argument doesn't account for guys like Doherty.
Warne averaged almost 30 in Australia post 2000 ftrDon't buy the "Oz is a difficult place for home grown spinners to bowl" argument at all.
Because he was utter crap in any conditions.I'm curious, in what way?
Ah, so you're saying that the argument says that he was better than his figures made out. Gotcha.Because he was utter crap in any conditions.
Sydney was less of a spinning wicket post-2000 than what it was beforehand, which had brought the spinners into play in Australia a bit more in a home series in the 1990s.Warne averaged almost 30 in Australia post 2000 ftr
Oh holy ****Mind-boggling that Doherty was one of the guys selected for Australia while O'Keefe was ignored
On that note I'd have O'Keefe ahead of a lot the bowlers on these lists, if we're judging more so on skill rather than international achievements
Nope. Just that he was crap.Ah, so you're saying that the argument says that he was better than his figures made out. Gotcha.
How the hell did he play test cricket?
You've misinterpreted me. I'm agreeing with your argument that the idea that spinners have it tough here (and hence average worse than they might) doesn't apply to Doherty because he's just plain bad.Nope. Just that he was crap.
Nope, no bias thereMind-boggling that Doherty was one of the guys selected for Australia while O'Keefe was ignored
On that note I'd have O'Keefe ahead of a lot the bowlers on these lists, if we're judging more so on skill rather than international achievements
This is turning out to be the most enjoyable thread on CricketWeb that I've ever seen. Please do continue, everyone. On that note I'd have O'Keefe ahead of a lot the bowlers on these lists, if we're judging more so on skill rather than international achievements
Nope just an opinion based on stats and experience. If you disagree that's fine but there's no need to be childish about it.Nope, no bias there
Didn't say nationalistic bias, dumbass.Nope just an opinion based on stats and experience. If you disagree that's fine but there's no need to be childish about it.
Also love how everyone jumps to "must be bias". I'm the guy who's been bagging Nathan Lyon (rightly or wrongly) for the last 5+ years. It's not bias, just an opinion.
Chor ki dadhi main tinkaDidn't say nationalistic bias, dumbass.
Worth noting in the 2000's Warne averaged 29 at home but 22 away from home. That is a significant gap.Don't buy the "Oz is a difficult place for home grown spinners to bowl" argument at all.
