I gather Rashid Khan is not playing any red ball cricket for Sussex? Shame.
It is a big shame for him. He needs practice and plenty of it. Right now he's just a white ball specialist with no real understanding of FC cricket. A great talent nonetheless, but he needs to help himself a bit more. He needs practice.

And Durham have pissed away the fruits of a superb first day and complete control, settling instead for a ''handy'' lead. I assume the wicket is spicy though which tells you how well Lees batted.

I hadn't seen Rory in a while, looks like he should probably go easy on the boerewors and Castle lager

Impressive bowling though.

It's impressive that he plays the English and SA season. Fair play for him wanting to be the senior pro at both Northants and Cobras. Could do with a few more like him.

But I came to terms long time ago that the bloke just can't control his weight. Appropriately nicknamed The Big Show. :)

Anyone seen much of the Leicestershire duo Chappell and Raine ?

Chappell been bigged up for a while but just can't seem to put things together. Amazingly Notts are set to sign him when they really need batsmen.

Raine and Gleeson to Yorkshire seems like they happening too.

Division 2 pick-ups.

Former England (Wales) u19 Aneurin Donald has left Glamorgan for Hampshire.

Chief Executive, Hugh Morris, said: “Our strategy is increasingly focused on providing opportunities in the first team to young talented players who have come through the Glamorgan Pathway system. This year ten players who have come through our programme have played First-Class cricket, including Aneurin who made his debut as a 17-year-old.”

“In-line with our approach we offered Aneurin a new 3-year contract to keep him at Glamorgan, which we believed was the best place for him to develop his cricket further.

“We are therefore disappointed he rejected the offer and has decided to move on from the Club. We would however like to thank Aneurin for his contribution to Glamorgan and wish him success in the future.”

Aneurin Donald said: “I am very grateful to everyone involved in Welsh Cricket who have helped me to develop all the way through to realising my dream of playing cricket for Glamorgan. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and the club will always hold a special place in my heart. I would like to wish the players, supporters and staff all the very best for the future.”

James Vince 77* off 94 balls and looking for another re-call
He's having a decent season isn't he? If Bairstow is out of the next test, I wouldn't be against picking Vince to play at 3.
Based on this game, in both innings he's made runs when the rest of the top order failed, so he couldn't be accused of cashing in.

Does this give Jennings another chance or do we just say **** it he's not working and you can't have somebody so incompetant in the field and make multiple changes?

We all laugh but like Ramprakash there must be some stubbornness when you got back to County after being dropped and you produce the goods.

I see on twitter , quite a few people are calling for the return of the Sherminator.

Now that really is silly. I'm guessing most of them were from the Birmingham area.

Going back to Vince, in an ideal world there would be viable alternatives to bat in England's top 5. The presence of a 20 year old at number 4 who's played less than 20 FC games and normally bats at 6 for his county suggests otherwise.

I can see why there advocates of the idea. Bell can bat time. He can construct an innings. This part of batting seems to have been lost among the upcoming youngsters. Even more of the type of player required is a Trott type player but Trott is retiring this season (he is having an Indian Summer - no pun intended - also).

I suppose people thought Hameed was that sort of player but...

Yes but ……

I'm with those who are hugely dubious about runs scored in D2. I suppose if someone was averaging about 80 I might be interested. And Bell is 36.

I would actually pick Vince for the next test. Maybe he's gone away and worked on his game; his average this season is way higher than his career average.
